Basic Function

LyondellBasell is searching for a Rotating Maintenance Technician for the new Louisiana Integrated Polyethylene (LIP) Joint Venture Olefins and Derivatives Plant located in Lake Charles, LA. The primary functions of this position are to productively perform quality repairs on rotating equipment in assigned unit.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Ensures work activities are in compliance with HSE, production requirements, and quality requirements (per Maintenance Procedures and OEM requirements)
  • Performs skilled maintenance repairs of equipment and visually inspects and tests equipment for proper functionality
  • Ensures reliable operation of machinery by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following procedures, diagrams, sketches, repair manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning equipment to meet operational and quality requirements. May discuss machine operation variations with supervisors, other maintenance workers, or operations to diagnose problem and repair the equipment
  • Assists Operations, as needed, to perform operational tasks
  • Locates sources of problems by observing equipment in operation and uses senses and/or precision measuring and testing instruments
  • Detects and repairs defective parts and/or materials
  • Determines changes in dimensional and/or process performance of parts/equipment through precision instrumentation
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools
  • Assembles repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Completes end of job documentation to communicate reliability improvement data as well as job package productivity improvements

  • Willingness to rotate job assignments as well as perform other tasks as requested by supervision

Min. Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician with knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods is preferred
  • High pressure experience is preferred
  • Minimum qualifications and experience to be one of the following:
    • Degree through recognized Trade School, Certification (NCCER, NICET, NETA, ISA, Relevant Military) or Equivalent and 3 years’ relevant experience
    • Or a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in discipline

 

Languages English, additional language preferred
