Basic Function

The Global Asset Integrity & Turnaround (GAI&T) organization has oversight responsibilities for the preparation and execution of all turnaround events globally.  The Turnaround Event Manager, NA leads and directs all preparation, planning, execution, and closure activities for turnaround assignments in North America.  Position resides in GAI&T and will be co-located at the Louisiana Integrated Polyethylene JV in Westlake, Louisiana.  This role will have responsibility for preparing and executing major turnarounds in the Olefins plant and may also support larger outages within the site or other nearby LyondellBasell locations as schedules permit.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Provide leadership to enable the organization to achieve GoalZERO HSE performance
  • Provide leadership to drive adoption of the Turnaround Excellence Model requirements and deliver to the Turnaround Premise
  • Leads the Turnaround Management Team for each assigned turnaround to support, facilitate, and implement the front-end loading, planning, execution, and closure of the turnaround in accordance with the objectives established in the turnaround premise statement and within the approved cost and schedule
  • Identifies and provides leadership to develop and realize turnaround improvement efforts
  • Effectively communicates up, down, and across to foster support and remove obstacles
  • Responsible for the development, planning, and execution of large, complex, turnaround events with integrated capital of $50MM - $150MM total capital spend
  • A large contract work force of up to 2000 employees are also directed through this position

 

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and effectively manage people and multiple/changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional analytical skills to effectively evaluate system performance, troubleshooting and mastery of continuous process improvement tools
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interface with and relate complex concepts/issues with all levels
  • Excellent leadership, mentoring and team work skills with the ability to effectively transfer technical expertise to less experienced turnaround professionals
  • Administrative acumen and expertise

Min. Qualifications

High school diploma (or equivalent) with applicable experience described below. Bachelor’s or advanced degree in engineering, construction management, or related technical field is preferred.

 

Minimum 10 years of experience in a process plant or comparable environment is required. 5 or more years of prior turnaround or related work experience is required for degreed candidates. Non-degreed candidates should have a minimum of 15 years of experience in a process plant or comparable environment and 10 or more years of prior turnaround or related work experience.

 

Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.  SAP, Primavera, Tableau, Power BI and Archer skills preferred.
