Basic Function
This position has the responsibility for implementing and supporting the SIS lifecycle. The position is also responsible for supporting and improving the Basic Regulatory Control, as well as identifying and implementing new control applications to improve plant throughout, profitability, stability, reliability, and safety. . This position generates a broad range of challenges that require routine interaction with other work groups to ensure maximum value is derived from the control and safety systems.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide design and technical input for all SIS lifecycle requirements. This position will validate using company approved software; the SIS design with SIL requirements.
- The position will be responsible for creation or validation of all interlock testing procedures, frequencies, and sitewide alignment for outages.
- Assists and supports capital upgrade projects
- Defines and support DCS regulatory control strategies, changes, and improvements
- Provides technical consultation, formal and informal training, and development of documentation, standards, and procedures in relation to their role
- Performs audits of controller benefits
- Participate in Control Systems, Safety Instrumented Systems and Process Control Network
Min. Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor of Science Engineering degree
- Minimum of ten years of industry experience in the petrochemical industry
- The individual should understand process engineering theory and control theory fundamentals and the ability to model and control petrochemical processes
- This position requires a commitment to learn and understand the development and application of a wide variety of advanced regulatory control strategies, APC applications including multi-variable and model predictive control, and development of inferential qualities
- Candidates must have excellent leadership, ethics, teamwork, and communication skills with a results oriented commitment. The ability to manage multiple and changing priorities is essential
- This position requires negotiating skills and the ability to resolve conflict across departmental lines to achieve objectives
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, preferably in Chemical or Electrical Engineering
- Demonstrated experience with Advanced Process Control in chemical and/or refining facilities is preferred
- Certification of recognized SIS training course (Exida, INERIS, ISA, TÜV Rheinland, or equivalent)
- Key Applications include Honeywell, Aspen DMCPlus, Aspen Plus, Rockwell)
- Self-motivation and high initiative
- Good Computing Skills
