The Quality Analyst is responsible for quality related disposition of all site production facilities and maintaining the sites internal quality system. Primary responsibility is the development, implementation and maintenance of the site’s Quality Process and Quality data. Facilitates the development and maintenance of quality system documentation such as quality related plant and unit procedures. Assists in customer visits & audits, customer complaints and corrective action requests. Assists in company and site level quality initiatives. Assess product quality risks and support investigation of off-grade productions, quality issues and claims in coordination with the plant. This position serves as the focal point for development of reporting quality performance results to the Lake Charles site management. The incumbent will be considered an expert in the Quality Systems (SAP & LIMS).
A Day in the Life
- Determines quality and disposition of product using available process and lab data.
- Responsible for product Usage Decision in LIMS/SAP. Engage Production Engineers in determining quality issues and resolution. Support Asset Management in finalizing product resolution.
- Evaluate transition material for generic prime grades to ensure production specifications are achieved
- Participates in Customer visits and quality interactions with Business and Customers.
- Investigate and resolve CoA issues with Specification management.
- Support Physical Property Testing evaluations and product capability.
- Maintenance of product quality control documentation including product quality plans and pertinent data in SAP.
- Updates and maintains LIMS database integrity with regard to sampling, testing schedules, and specification. This includes test codes for new lab equipment.
- Develops and analyzes quality data (TPV and other KPI) and assists in internal quality monthly reporting (quarterly system review). Pareto performance to help drive continuous improvement action plans.
- Responsible for WIP inventory (awaiting usage decision). Help coordinate railcar re-samples, returns, re-classes and quality purges.
- Assist with off-plant shipments of all documents and materials for small packages.
- Assist in hopper car tracking and history as required.
- Setup LIMS Template information for new products and/or blanket changes.
- Test LIMS & SAP system changes as requested.
- Trains and mentors Operators and Lab Technicians on LIMS & SAP.
- Assist with Internal Quality Auditing (including ISO).
- Assist with investigations (internal & external events), root cause analysis and troubleshooting activities.
You Bring This Value
- H.S. Diploma (or equivalent). Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in manufacturing. Prefer a minimum of 2 yrs plant quality experience.
- Analytical capabilities

- Capability to become the site expert on Quality Systems (SAP & LIMS)
- Knowledge of PP & Catalloy processes (sample locations)
- Knowledgeable of statistical quality control
- Communication skills, collaboration, and decision making skills
- Interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively as a team member, and achieve results through the contributions of other people within and outside the immediate organization
- Advanced PC skills, including spreadsheets, database, graphics, statistical forecasting and modeling. Good information technology skills needed to access company data.
