Turnaround Event Manager, EU (m/f/d)

The Global Engineering & Turnaround (GE&T) organization has oversight responsibilities for the preparation and execution of all turnaround events globally.  The Turnaround Event Manager, EU leads and directs all preparation, planning, execution, and closure activities for turnaround assignments in Europe.  Position resides in GE&T with rotating assignments to turnarounds within assigned country or region for 2 – 3 years for the preparation and execution of each turnaround.

 

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

 

  • Provide leadership to enable the organization to achieve GoalZERO HSE performance.
  • Provide leadership to drive adoption of the Turnaround Excellence Model requirements and deliver to the Turnaround Premise.
  • Leads the Turnaround Management Team for each assigned turnaround to support, facilitate, and implement the front-end loading, planning, execution, and closure of the turnaround in accordance with the objectives established in the turnaround premise statement and within the approved cost and schedule.
  • Identifies and provides leadership to develop and realize turnaround improvement efforts.
  • Effectively communicates up, down, and across to foster support and remove obstacles.

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in engineering, construction management, or related technical field is preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a process plant or comparable environment is required.  5 or more years of prior turnaround or related work experience is strongly preferred for degreed candidates.  Non-degreed candidates should have a minimum of 15 years of experience in a process plant or comparable environment.  10 or more years of prior turnaround or related work experience is strongly preferred.
  • Working fluency in English and German (written and spoken). Working knowledge of French and/or Dutch is a plus.

 

Skills

 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.  SAP, Primavera, Tableau, and Archer skills preferred.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and effectively manage people and multiple/changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional analytical skills to effectively evaluate system performance, troubleshooting and mastery of continuous process improvement tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interface with and relate complex concepts/issues with all levels.
  • Excellent leadership, mentoring and team work skills with the ability to effectively transfer technical expertise to less experienced turnaround professionals.
  • Administrative acumen and expertise.
  • 5% - 10% travel within Europe required and occasional international travel.  With responsibilities for two sites in Germany, travel will increase based on the turnaround cycle.  The first execution is at the WEO site and begins in September of 2024, the next will be at the MUO site and begins in September of 2027.
