For our largest European production site in Wesseling/Knapsack near Cologne, we are looking for a


Senior Technologist (m/f/d) 


The purpose of the job is to act as an expert for the back end operation of the two Crackers as well as for the Butadiene Unit and Utilities Operations. The position shall help to develop our olefins units for the future challenges and reliable operations.



Roles & Responsibilities:


  • Provision of solution for complex problems in the production units, using advanced calculation methodes and process simulation
  • Provide ideas for improvement of our olefins and utilities units achieving better energy and CO2 efficiency
  • Develop the ideas until the status of a project status
  • Execution of concept and/or feasibility studies inhouse or in cooperation with external contractors
  • Support and advice project teams during Basic and Detail Engineering
  • Optimization of the units with regard to capacity, energy consumption
  • Improve reliability and ensure sustainable operation of our olefins and utility operations
  • Participation in incident investigation and development of solutions to prevent similar situations in the future
  • Contribution to technical networks with local and international participants to help sharing experiences all over the company
  • Give advice to our young process engineers and support developing them for future positions in the company


Education and Key Requirements


  • Master in Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering
  • Minimum 6 years work experience in process design and engineering of thermal separation processes and heat and mass transfer equipment
  • Fluent in German and English
  • Very good knowledge in process simulations like e.g. Aspen or Hysis and thermodynamic models
  • Manufacturing background and knowledge of petrochemical and/or refinery processes is beneficial
  • Very good communication and networking skills
