For our German site in Wesseling near Cologne or in Rotterdam we are looking for a
Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) & Instrumentation Engineer (m/f/d)
This position, within Instrumentation & Control of Global Automation & Process Engineering (GA&PE), is to provide technical expertise and strategic leadership for the safe and reliable design, installation, operation, and maintenance of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) systems and field instrumentation. This position is a global role and requires collaboration with other stakeholders in Manufacturing, Global Projects, Global Asset Integrity and Global Process Safety to successfully meet the goals and priorities of GA&PE.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Provide leadership of key Safety Instrumented Systems initiatives pertaining to Functional Safety Management of the SIS systems, field instrumentation, and controls.
- Define the roadmap for implementation of SIS Lifecycle Management Tools
- Lead the implementation of SIS Lifecycle Management Tools, including digital technologies to manage SIS data
- Lead the transition of work processes at Manufacturing sites to take advantage of these tools
- Drive continuous improvement of instrumentation and SIS systems by identifying opportunities through participation in incident investigations, analyzing reliability data and engaging with site engineering
- Provide SIS, Instrumentation and Control support for Turnaround readiness and scope challenge assessments, and Turnaround execution support
- Provide technical consultancy for SIS systems and equipment on capital projects being executed within LyondellBasell either at the corporate, regional or site level. Serve as technology expert liaison between project engineers, plant personnel and suppliers
- Ownership of SIS Engineering Standards and Excellence Model Documents
- Provide technical consultation and direction to the site SIS experts, Instrument engineers and Process Automation engineers/specialists with respect to SIS technology
- Provide training on new as well as existing SIS Lifecycle topics
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, in Electrical Engineering preferred or equivalent
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a petrochemical environment, in an Instrumentation/SIS Maintenance/Reliability department at a Manufacturing Plant
- TÜV Functional Safety Certification or equivalent from industry recognized agency such as Exida, INERIS, ISA
- Experience with one or more of the SIS systems: Emerson Delta-V SIS; Honeywell FSC or Safety Manager; Schneider Electric Triconex; HIMA
- Fluent in English (written and spoken). Knowledge in German, and/or Dutch is a plus.
- Leadership experience preferred, highly skilled at influencing colleagues without direct authority, by demonstrating and creating team work
- Strong communication skills
