For our largest European production site in Wesseling/Knapsack near Cologne, we are looking for a

 

Manager, Turnaround Planning & Scheduling, Europe (m/f/d)

 

The Global Engineering & Turnaround (GE&T) organization has oversight responsibilities for the preparation and execution of all turnaround events globally.  The Manager, Turnaround Planning & Scheduling, Europe leads a team of turnaround Planners, Schedulers, and Field Coordinators and is responsible for the successful planning and scheduling of Europe turnarounds.  They also lead a large contract workforce supporting turnaround planning, scheduling and field coordination.  The position resides in Global Engineering & Turnaround (GE&T).

 

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

 

  • Provide leadership to enable the organization to achieve GoalZERO HSE performance
  • Provide leadership to drive to best practices in planning and scheduling
  • Identifies and provides leadership to develop and realize turnaround improvement efforts
  • Responsible for the quality of turnaround planning and scheduling, owns and shares best practices, responsible for on-boarding of new contractors as turnaround work load fluctuates.
  • Responsible for managing the planning and scheduling staffing needs of 2 – 3 simultaneous turnarounds
  • Effectively communicates up, down, and across to foster support and remove obstacles
  • Responsible for the planning and scheduling that directs the work of 1000 – 2000 contract workers
  • Coordinates team of 10 contract planners and schedulers

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related technical field is preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in a process plant or comparable environment is required.  10 or more years of prior turnaround / project experience and 5 years of management experience strongly preferred. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and SAP
  • Highly competent in Primavera scheduling and Deltek Acumen Fuse.
  • Languages: Fluent English and German; French and Dutch also desired.

  • Construction management expertise with detailed knowledge of craft and quality assurance practices
  • Exceptional analytical skills to effectively evaluate system performance, troubleshooting and mastery of continuous process improvement tools
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interface with and relate complex concepts/issues with all levels from craft to executive leadership
  • Excellent leadership, mentoring and team work skills with the ability to effectively transfer technical expertise to less experienced turnaround professionals
  • Administrative acumen and expertise

 

Travel:

20% - 30% travel within Europe required.
