Basic Function

The Global Engineering and Turnarounds (GE&T) Polymers Process Engineering Group provides leadership and technical support to operations and projects for all polymer and polyolefin catalyst manufacturing plants in North America and the EAI region, including Joint Ventures upon Technology Transfer request.

The Extrusion Expert position provides global process and operational expertise relevant to Extrusion & Mixer technologies in order to achieve best in class performance in the areas of Environment, Health, Safety, Process Safety, Cost, Reliability, Energy Efficiency, and capacity utilization across all Extrusion lines globally. 

This will be achieved through; 
•    Improvements and support of manufacturing and process development
•    Functional ownership 
•    Networking and sharing technical knowledge and expertise 
•    Identifying and Development of Best Practices and Manufacturing Standards
 

Roles & Responsibilities

•    Conduct required studies to achieve higher potential for Extrusion lines 
•    Global Process Owner leading the Extrusion Process Network, engage in the various Polyolefin Expert Networks, and Affiliates to achieve best performance
•    Develop Best Practices and Manufacturing Standards that improve Extrusion lines performance globally 
•    Develop Extrusion performance KPIs and work with affiliates to track the performance globally and develop improvement recommendations. 
•    Follow up of the Extrusion related "Learning from Experience (LFE)“ through TKM
•    Drive vendors to provide resolution of equipment performance issues
•    Work with Extrusion Expert Group to develop strategic alliance with licensor/OEMs for technological strength, handling complexity, Operational Excellence including revamps and bottlenecks.
•    Partner with the Finishing Equipment SME to optimize critical spare parts and equipment maintenance strategies
•    Partner with the R&D Process Design team and remain updated on the current developments in the extrusion field. Support the design of new equipment and processes 
•    Participate in benchmarking activities in the areas of Extrusion and set performance improvement recommendations. Also work as consultant to affiliates to check and qualify gap closing actions. 
•    Support all networking activities emerging from the Polymer Technology Process Networks
•    Support Major Upgrade projects to ensures that the newly manufactured extrusion equipment or process gets qualified by following the written plans and review the relevant documents.
•    Disseminate knowledge and expertise to affiliates personnel through training, troubleshooting and various networking activities. 
•    Participate in complex RCAs in Extrusion area in specific and responsible for communicating the issues and coordinating the resolutions globally. 
•    Resolve Extrusion (Process) related Performance issues and Develop recommendations and make decisions by diving deep, understanding the nuance of issues and anticipating the consequences of the course of action. 
•    Participate in New Product Introduction up to commercialization. providing leadership to the organization in the development of advanced technical products or process upgrades.
•    Support the introduction of new HSE standards and initiatives in Extrusion Lines.
•    Completion of the remaining Extrusion Preferred Practices, Learning from Experience review and update and develop Guidelines (Tier-3 Documents) to close gaps.
•    Strong mechanical aptitude with an excellent understanding of the basics of mathematics and statistics; Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
 

Qualifications

Education
•    BS or higher degree in Chemical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/Material Engineering/Plastic Engineering/Polymer Processing 
•    Strong Problem Solving Skills: Six SIGMA certified or equivalent qualification

Work Experience 
•    Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible engineering experience within the polymers industry
•    Polyethylene and Polypropylene manufacturing and processing experience
