BASIC FUNCTION: 

Perform all activities accurately and safely in accordance with company standards. GoalZero (HSES&Q) being paramount and adhered to at all times.

Senior role responsible for supporting the department with inspection & testing of raw materials and finished products in accordance with the inspection plan and all associated administration and documentation. The assessment of products and in making modifications to the formulation where appropriate such that the product specifications are met for both colour and mechanical properties. Ensuring products meet national and international quality standards with the authority to stop production where non conformity arises.

Assisting the Quality manager delivery Right first time (RFT) operations coinciding with Customer complaint or Incident management, continuous improvement, FMEA, root cause analysis, gauge R&R, SPC and product audit activities.

Managing Not right first time (NRFT) corrective action activities & rework opportunities.

Supporting Quality manager & Shift production colour & QC technicians maintain training & development programs, laboratory controlled documents, test methods & procedures.

Assisting the Quality manager, QAE, PAD & ADTS investigate manufacturing related customer complaints meeting with business KPI targets & deadlines.

Additional responsibilities depending on business requirements as directed by Quality & Laboratory manager.

Routine functional transactions in SAP and CIMAG systems.

A Day in the Life

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • To support & supervise production operations with planning, process order documentation, product inspection, result input, manufactured & packaged quantity validation, accurate & effective material release.
  • Ensure non-conforming production is suitably identified, recorded & controlled to prevent unplanned release. Support production with investigation, root cause analysis, corrective & preventative measures.
  • To support Quality & Lab manager develop, provide & maintain training programs and ensure laboratory personnel perform their roles & responsibilities effectively.
  • To apply prior knowledge and understanding of raw materials and the effects their characteristics have on EP compounds to make rework formulation adjustments both for colour and mechanical properties to meet with product specifications.
  • Supporting Quality Manager maintain Quality standards & IATF requirements, ensure laboratory performance & improvement initiatives are developed and maintained. Includes, but not limited to pFMEA, incident investigation, root cause analysis, corrective & preventative action, gauge R&R, SPC, product audit, departmental training & development.
  • Operational knowledge of test equipment and to understand their international standards in order to perform and report accurate tests on materials and finished products. Maintaining Gage R&R standards accordingly.
  • To perform and report accurate analytical tests on raw materials and finished products, both GC & FTIR. Building & maintaining comparative library.
  • Maintain systems to ensure equipment is tested & calibrated according to schedule. Conduct routine internal calibrations where applicable.
  • To assist Quality manager/ Laboratory manager in other activities not limited to the above.

You Bring This Value

Education:

 

Minimum GCSE’s in Mathematics, English and Science subjects but ideally educated to a higher level preferably a degree in a science discipline.

 

Work Experience:

 

  • 1-2 years’ experience in quality control or laboratory environment.
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in quality inspection role or R&D role, preferably within polymer manufacturing industry.
  • Minimum 1-2 years' experience in a colour evaluation role with responsibilities adjusting formulations to achieve product specifications.
  • Minimum 1-2 years in a supervisor or similar leadership role.

 

Skills:

 

  • Good degree of computer literacy and ability to use internal business software and systems.
  • Good training, development & leadership skills with the ability to support, coach & direct a team achieve their objectives.
  • Good analytical skills with a good understanding of test equipment and methods for the polymer industry.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Good skills in communicating internally within quality team and across operational departments.
  • Must be highly motivated with clear focus on achieving targets and goals.
  • Perfect colour vision

 

Languages:

 

Must be fluent in written and verbal English.
