Senior Maintenance Engineer, Warrington Plant
Basic Function
Responsible for leading and managing a small team of multiskilled engineers, maintaining and repairing the plant, equipment and assets at the Warrington plant to OEM standards. Ensure equipment and plant is available as required by the production plan and plant and infrastructure is maintained in accordance to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Maintaining safety standards and complying with all relevant rules and regulations. Contributing actively to the provision of a safe working environment for all stakeholders on site. Carrying out Continuous Improvement of plant and utilities by planned preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance work. Maintaining a clean, organized, lean and effective maintenance workshop and stores.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Maintain a hands-on role when required, and assist Engineers on specific tasks or to cover staff shortages.
- To ensure all daily planned and routine work is complete, and to ensure all breakdowns are attended to and rectified in a timely, safe manner, causing minimum downtime.
- Work with the Maintenance Manager to promote continuous improvement and change through own initiatives, team planning, etc.
- Ensure all relevant H & S regulations and safe systems of work are adhered to.
- Liaise with, and work with contractors when they attend site.
- Set-up, implementation and maintenance of an effective planned preventative maintenance programme.
- To maintain effective reporting and recording procedures.
- Pass on own skills and experience by providing necessary training and supporting the teams development.
- Manage project workloads as required.
- Ensure all work carried out is logged, maintaining good communications between shifts using the shift handover to provide detailed reports.
- Must work in compliance with the requirements of the site management systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001) to ensure quality of products and services.
Person Specfication
Work Experience / Skills:
- Minimum five years industrial experience within a manufacturing maintenance role.
- Experience in managing and leading a small team of engineers and project work.
- Substantial Electrical and/or Mechanical fitting skills and experience. Installation experience & 18th Edition would be desirable.
- Working in a similar automated environment within the extrusion & compounding sector would be desirable but not essential.
- PC Skills and computer literate (Microsoft office).
- Ability to communicate effectively at various levels within the organisation.
- Must have basic PLC fault finding skills.
- Good understanding of Health and Safety requirements within a manufacturing environment including risk assessments, PTW & contractor management.
- Able to assess and manage complex maintenance problems under time pressure.
- Can time manage & prioritise workloads.
Languages:
- Must be fluent in written and verbal English.
Min. Qualifications
- Full Engineering Apprenticeship in the relevant trade. Desirable to have electrical bias with knowledge of control systems, HMI, AC & DC Motors & Drives.
- HNC level education desirable or appropriate experience but with ONC level qualification.
Terms and Conditions
We offer an attractive compensation package, dependant on skills & experience, and participation in the Company’s discretionary short-term incentive (bonus) programme. Currently, the full-year target bonus for this position is 6% of base salary.
The holiday entitlement is 25 days/annum plus bank holidays
