Maintenance Engineer

Basic Function

Responsible for maintaining and repairing the plant, equipment and assets of LyondellBasell Warrington site to OEM standards and to ensure that plant is available as required by the production plan. Also to ensure that the plant and infrastructure is maintained in accordance to the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Maintaining safety standards and complying with all relevant rules and regulations. Contributing actively to the provision of a safe working environment for all associates on site adhering to GoalZERO standards.

Carrying out Continuous Improvement of plant and utilities by planned preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance work.. 

Maintaining a clean, organized, lean and effective maintenance workshop and stores.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Work in a safe manner complying with all rules, regulations and OE Life Critical Standards. Contributing actively to the provision of a safe working environment for all associates on site including maintenance and improvement projects and contribution to risk assessments.
  • Responsible for maintenance and repair to the plant, infrastructure, equipment and assets of LyondellBasell Warrington site to OEM standards and to ensure that plant is available as required by the production plan
  • Work with minimal supervision. Attending any breakdowns promptly and efficiently. Diagnosing faults and their root cause. Escalating any issues that cannot be resolved to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Plan/prioritize workloads to support production goals by achieving the departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
  • Continuous improvement of plant utilization including routine planned preventative maintenance and improvement projects
  • To assist in developing the level of skills in the team including apprentices to support the effectiveness of the engineering team.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, lean and effective maintenance workshop and stores.
  • Work to high standards of housekeeping during repairs, maintenance and all other duties.
  • Identify and order any parts needed to carry out maintenance or project work. Liaise with suppliers to ensure they meet delivery dates and or times.
  • Ensure all work carried out is logged. Maintain good communications between shifts using the shift handover to give a detailed report, or a written report if required.
  • Participating in capex projects to support the Maintenance Manager.
  • Any other duties deemed appropriate to support the business.
  • Must work in compliance with the requirements of the site management systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001) to ensure the quality of our products and services provided. The function has authority to stop an activity, including production where non conformity arises

Min. Qualifications

  • Good educational standard with a minimum of modern Apprenticeship and HNC/HND.
  • Relevant inspection and testing qualifications and experience.
  • Significant technical training.
  • 18th Edition

Work Experience

  • Time served with electro mechanical background.
  • Proven installation experience.
  • Min 5 years industrial experience within a maintenance role in semi continuous batch manufacturing.

Skills

  • Preferably have experience of maintaining extruders, blending systems.
  • Preferably experience working with D.C. motors and drives.
  • Must have experience on compressed air systems, and be able to read drawings. 
  • Ideally have good PLC fault finding skills.
  • Must have a good level of mechanical skills as the this role will involve multi-skilling
  • Good understanding of an automated manufacturing environment
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety requirements within a manufacturing environment
  • Proven ability to manage daily priorities
  • Good understanding of quality control systems.
  • Must possess good forms of communication skills both written & oral
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Good I.T skills and P.C literacy
  • Must have an understanding of risk assessments and COSHH.
  • Must have demonstrated good work habits
  • Able to assess and manage complex maintenance problems under time pressure.
  • Able to use a Plan / Do / Check / act methodology into daily maintenance, planned maintenance and breakdown situations. 
  • Able to use data to assess priorities and escalate as required.  
  • Lead the engineering team on breakdowns, project and continuous improvement work.  
  • Involvement in capex projects as a team member and if appropriate as a project leader.
  • Play a significant part in site safety activities including risk assessment, hazard reduction, re-engineering to remove hazards, identifying, rectifying and maintaining problems on plant and equipment to maintain all equipment to the closest condition to first supply.

Other Requirements

Languages:

  • Must be fluent in written and verbal English.

Other Requirements:

  • Must not be colour blind or have a fear of working at heights.
  • Must be prepared to work shifts.
  • Must be prepared to work a reasonable amount of overtime to support the maintenance team and production.

Terms and Conditions

  • Starting salary is negotiable commensurate with experience.
  • We offer a generous package including an annual bonus opportunity of 6%, based on company, site and individual performance
  • Working 40 hours, Monday to Friday
  • 25 days holiday per year increasing with service up to 29 days, plus bank holidays.
