Maintenance Assistant

Basic Function

The purpose of the job is to provide technical and administrative support in the areas of maintenance, capital, document management systems, computerised maintenance management systems and procurement on site.

Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Work with the Maintenance Manager to prioritise the use of maintenance resources considering total departmental workload.
  2. Manage maintenance administration to ensure that individual maintenance tasks are technically completed, job history is recorded & financial administration is supported within required timeframes.
  3.  To provide a service to support SAP, in terms of updates, procedural changes, resolving of errors etc., Along with training and advice, and as otherwise requested by the Site Maintenance Manager.
  4. Develop, review and upgrade maintenance plans. Monitor their execution and evaluate effectiveness recommending appropriate changes to Maintenance Manager.
  5. Ensure that BOM's at either Functional Location or equipment level have the correct SAP material allocations.
  6. Create and make changes to stock materials through the Master Data Governance(MDG) process.
  7. Develop, manage and control the engineering document management system. Ensuring where any and all externally generated reports, maintenance manuals etc.; can be incorporated within Documentum and/or the SAP system.
  8. Technical Procurement support creating annual purchase requisitions associated with procurement outline agreements. Also ensuring service entries and goods receipts have been completed.

Education and Work Experience

  1. Educated to A level standard or similar business related qualification or relevant experience
  2. Experience with Manufacturing (Extrusion) plant based Maintenance Stores.

  3. Knowledge of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (SAP).

  4. Knowledge of area equipment & maintenance activities.

  1. Capable of co-ordinating multiple tasks within a multi-discipline working environment.
  2. Interpersonal Capability : Good communication skills, written & verbal.


  1. Excellent IT skills – Microsoft packages.
  2. Good understanding and usage of CMMS(SAP) or similar system in the management of project costs.
  3. Technically competent in a particular maintenance discipline.
  4. Capable of demonstrating a flexible and pro-active approach to maintenance activities.
  5. Must be fluent in written and verbal English.
