LyondellBasell is searching for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for our High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) manufacturing facility located near Victoria, TX.  Mechanical Maintenance Technicians are tasked to apply their mechanical expertise daily to provide mechanical repairs, perform preventative maintenance and reliability improvements on plant equipment and piping to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the site's production line, and to increase plant on-stream time and reduced operating costs.  This is accomplished by executing assigned work according to plan and schedule, noting any job plan deviations, and providing input on improvement opportunities.

A Day in the Life

Accountable for personal safety, the safety of co-workers, and promoting a safe work environment; responsible for carrying out all work activities in compliance with federal and state environmental regulations
Promote an environment in which everyone is treated with respect
Provide technical expertise to assist in the installation, acceptance testing, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of unit mechanical equipment
Execute Scheduled Work By:
Reviewing assigned job scopes for completeness and understanding
Acquiring all necessary parts, tools, and instructions prior to starting the job to maximize work efficiency
Following all necessary safety procedures and practices to isolate, clear, and work on plant equipment
Ensuring work is completed per company and industry standards
Working with equipment owner to complete task in a safe and timely manner
Updating supervisor on job progress and any problems encountered in completing the defined scope of work
Completing all documentation using a computerized maintenance management system
Respond to tasks as directed by maintenance supervision with the appropriate sense of urgency to minimize impact to process units

You Bring This Value

High school diploma or GED
Must possess good verbal and written communication skills
Must be willing and able to provide overtime coverage and work occasional call-outs, and work shifts including weekends and holidays if needed
Must be able to work with hazardous and/or flammable chemicals (with proper safety precautions, training, and equipment)
Willing to work around and/or manually interact with heavy equipment
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time, perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting (up to 50 pounds), and be able to work in tight or confined spaces
Be able to work in extreme weather conditions, elevated heights (above 25 feet by climbing stairs and vertical ladders) and noisy areas
Must adhere to all rules and procedures and contribute to a team setting
Must complete tasks wearing required personal protective equipment which may include fire protective clothing, goggles, face shields, gloves, steel toe boots, hearing protection, respirators, etc.
Must be skilled in mathematics, including first-level Algebra
Show a high commitment to their craft and willing to learn and accept new challenges
Self-starter and capable of leading formal or informal work groups
Working level experience in performing both conventional and laser alignments and in use of precision measuring tools
The candidate must have a working knowledge of equipment design and application for various types of machinery: turbo machinery, process pumps, reciprocating compressors, process fans, and rotary feeders
A working knowledge of mechanical drawings, P&ID's and mechanical seal drawings 
Typically, a minimum of five (5) years of experience as an industrial millwright
Working knowledge of laser alignment technology and application
Fundamental understanding of mechanical rigging in accordance with OSHA requirements
Advanced understanding of turbo machinery, process pumps, reciprocating compressors, blowers, mechanical seals, and centrifuges
Experience with SAP or other computerized Maintenance Management systems
One of the following is preferred:
NCCER Industrial Millwright Certification
Associate's Degree from an accredited college or trade school
Millwright certification from a recognized apprenticeship program
