The Victoria plant for Lyondell Chemical Company’s Equistar business produces high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic resins. Our customers convert these resins into consumer products including housewares, building materials, automotive parts, packaging for food and personal care items, and grocery bags. The Victoria Plant covers about 33 acres and is located off Texas Highway 185 between Victoria and Bloomington, Texas.
As the Victoria Site Manager, you will provide leadership to all employees within the site to ensure that the site is run in a safe, reliable, cost efficient and environmentally sound manner. You will lead the site management team to develop plant goals, identify performance gaps and work to ensure alignment of site activities with company goals. You will participate in corporate teams to help champion and implement corporate level strategic initiatives and goals. This role provides leadership, development and coaches direct reports to achieve business results, create value and optimize the site. You will participate in the Chocolate Bayou/Matagorda/Victoria staff/leadership team to help determine improvement opportunities and set achievable goals for the broader organization while simultaneously leading efforts towards these goals and improvements at the Victoria site. This position reports to the CBO/MTO/VTO Site Manager located at the Matagorda Site.
A Day in the Life
- Responsible for day-to-day execution and accountability of all areas of the site.
- Responsible for implementation and adherence of corporate standards (i.e., Operational Excellence, engineering standards, etc.) within the functional area as appropriate.
- Ensures that personnel and systems are in place to achieve safety, process safety environmental, quality, and area goals for the site.
- Participates actively with the business team to create, plan, organize and execute short and long range objectives. Ensures continued site and business efficiency and effectiveness as part of Strategic Alignment and Execution. This includes owning the site asset strategy and external benchmarking for continuous improvement.
- Participates and leads regional and corporate initiatives.
- Prepares and manages the site budget in a cost-efficient way that meets budget goals.
- Champions sustainability improvements for the Victoria site with respect to raw materials, energy, and waste.
- Champions diversity, equity and inclusion for all people at the Victoria site, both company and contract. Sets clear performance expectations, coaches and mentors personnel.
- Serves as a company representative in the local communities via participation with community activities.
You Bring This Value
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field, or progressive leadership experience in chemical or petrochemical in lieu of degree
- Eight to ten (8-10) years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Previous supervisory and/or management experience is required
- Prior Operations Management experience, strongly preferred
- Knowledge of company policies, plant operating, maintenance procedures, planning/scheduling, equipment reliability, SAP, health, safety, and environmental requirements
- Knowledge of purchasing, laboratory functions, commercial strategy, and human resources
- Knowledge of manufacturing accounting practices and budgeting process
- Ability to interface with all organizational levels within the company
