Basic Function

We are currently seeking to fill a Production Engineer position at LyondellBasell's Victoria site located approximately 10 miles southeast of Victoria, TX. The Victoria site produces high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic resins.

 

The Process/Production Engineer will monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize operating units to drive process and product improvements. During a typical day they will apply technical knowledge to detect causes of deviations in quality, capacity, yield, and energy consumption. The individual will identify, recommend and implement strategic projects to improve unit performance. A process / production engineer will also collaborate with unit specialists, supervisors, operators, and other engineers to support process design and implementation of capital projects.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop system to improve and sustain value in the areas of health, safety/process safety, environment, production rates, reliability, cost and quality
  • Maintain a strong safety and environmental compliance focus
  • Design and lead Asset Team plant tests to improve product value and/or quality and reduce costs
  • Generate monthly reliability and quality reports and collect annual PTAI benchmarking data
  • Develop recommendations to improve unit performance
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and optimize operating units
  • Calculate releases for environmental or process safety events and losses for reliability events
  • Represent the site on company Technical Networks
  • Support the site PHA process including facilitation of PHA(s) and addressing recommendations
  • Perform relief device sizing calculations and documentation
  • Provide process design support for capital projects
  • Contribute in a team environment and establish work relationships with onsite and offsite functional groups to achieve results
  • Balance day-to-day operational priorities with long term strategic objectives to ensure alignment with company goals

Min. Qualifications

  • B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering is required
  • Ideal candidate will have 2 or more years of experience in refining, petrochemical, or chemical environment
  • Knowledge of polymer processes is a plus
  • Knowledgeable in chemical and process engineering aspects
  • Ability to apply engineering concepts to solve performance problems and good troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledgeable in the PSM regulations and relevant company OE standards/guidelines
  • Knowledgeable in the development of process design packages and project scopes and related economics
  • Good troubleshooting skills and techniques
  • Demonstrated IT capability in Microsoft Office Suite
