Basic Function
This Maintenance Planner at the Victoria, TX plant is responsible for planning all Maintenance mechanical, electrical, instrument and analyzer work requests in the plant to improve maintenance work efficiency and reduce costs. The Maintenance Planner is responsible for developing job-planning packages for maintenance repair work and improvement projects, including estimates of cost, equipment, and material and tool requirements as they relate to their assigned work group. This position must also insure that sufficient amount of work is planned to satisfy production needs as well as the available man-hour capacity. Functions as the field buyer for all maintenance parts not in stores stock and certain services.
Roles & Responsibilities
• Field checks jobs and plans the work prioritizing job safety, environmental sensitivity, and cost and work efficiency. Plans all outages and turnaround work orders.
• Estimates labor resources, material and service requirements and associated costs. Requisitions required materials and services. Progresses planned jobs to Materials Inventory to pull stores stocked items. Progress planned jobs to scheduling.
• Provides job planning input during preventive maintenance plan development.
• Insures that order type and Maintenance activity types are accurately assigned on the order.
• Interfaces with Operations, Engineering, Inspection, Purchasing, Safety, Industrial Hygiene and Environmental groups as required, to obtain full understanding of job scope requirements.
• Conducts pre-job review meetings with outside service contractors to review job requirements.
• Prepares work order packages consisting of specific job steps and requirements, engineered drawings (if required), and material lists. Obtain excavation permits from SME, if required for the job, and includes in the work order package. Issues packages to Maintenance Supervisor and Production Maintenance Coordinator.
• Prepares standard jobs in the work order system. Maintains work request system backlog as per the priority system.
• Solicits feedback on executed job plans; makes necessary changes to insure planning and work efficiencies continue to improve. Analyzes execution of the job versus the job plan and compares labor and material actuals versus estimates. Updates standard jobs if applicable.
• Sets up/assists with setting up and modifying new equipment, functional locations and characteristics in SAP.
• Assists with/Submits MDG forms as required for spare parts.
• Participates in bidding process and requisitioning for 3rd party services as necessary; writes necessary change orders for third party services upon job completion.
• Responds to and participates in timely execution of critical priority 1 and 2 jobs.
• Assures Critical and Standard PM Compliance percentages are kept at 100% or deferrals are in place.
• Ensures that a PCA/MOC is provided for projects and process changes to be planned and contains all necessary information for planning. If not, work with Engineering to acquire the necessary information.
• Identify and implement reliability driven improvements. This may include participation in site reliability teams.
• Participate on committees dealing with investigations, policy and procedure development, and improving the work place environment.
Min. Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Typically, five (5) years of Maintenance related experience in the chemical manufacturing industry.
- Thorough knowledge of Mechanical or IEA craft activities; craft experience a plus.
- Supervisory or group leader experience a plus and independent decision making skills are required.
- Knowledge of piping, valve and gasket specifications.
- Must have excellent team, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interface with all personnel on site in a positive, clear, and collaborative manner.
- Strong computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity SAP and Prometheus/Primavera scheduling software programs.
