Category Specialist

BASIC FUNCTION

• Lead the Strategic Sourcing and Procurement Operatons (Source to Pay process) for Tech Materials (MROs) and Tech Services (TMTS) for VDO Site.
• Lead the Strategic Sourcing and Procurement Operatons (Source to Pay process) for Corporate Services & Digital Technology (CSDT) for multiple Site & Offices in India and AFMEI region.
• Also support the PR to PO process for Corporate Services & IT for AFMEI region.
• Develops, deploys and manages the Sourcing Strategies required to support company operations for AFMEI in consultation with Category Manager for CSDT APAC region
• Develops, deploys and manages the Sourcing Strategies required to support company operations for Vadodara Site in India in consultation with Category Manager for TMTS APAC region
• Support other sites of TMTS & CSDT procurement activities required from time to time.
• Implement strategies that integrate internal technical requirement and utilizes multiple strategic levers to optimize value including challenging the status quo
• Promotes excellent working relationships with key stakeholders across Corporate Offices and Manufacturing Sites in the development and execution of sourcing strategies and digitization projects for above countries
• Lead negotiations for assigned categories and countries and put in place regional agreements
• Utilize comprehensive and systematic market analysis for the materials / services procured to drive lowest total cost of ownership and maximum value to the company
• Manage effective internal stakeholders engagements and supplier relationships to the senior levels
• This position will coordinate with regional Procurement colleagues for their synergy projects and deliver value to the company.
• This position will support the Category Manager in development and implementation of global / regional sourcing strategies and be accountable for value creation related to the assigned categories.
• This position will maintain regular communication with suppliers and will deliver market intelligence to Procurement and the Key Stakeholders to maintain LYB’s competitive position.
• This position requires interaction with various functional groups across countries assigned within the APAC region including the IT, HR, Admin, Finance and Site Leadership. This interaction will provide excellent exposure to various levels within multiple departments.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Technical materials commodity would typically include segments items like control valves, maintenance valves, compressors, vessels and heat exchangers, furnaces, instrumentation, refrigeration, power distribution, MROs, pipings, fittings, extruders, pelletizers, motors, gear box, fans, blowers, pumps, packing and filling equipments, transformers, switchgears, lab equipments, etc
• Technical services commodity would include segments like maintenance services (civil, engineering), Inspection, Safety, HSE, Rentals, Industrial cleaning, Turn arounds, outages, engineering, construction, scaffolding, insulation, painting, waste management,
• Corporate Services category would typically include areas like Facilities management, catering, Housekeeping, Gardening, Office equipments, Stationaries, Contingent labor, Travel, Fleet, Training, Consulting, Marketing and promotionals, Subscriptions, HR/Legal/Financial services, Security, Healthcare, Real Estate, etc
• Information Technology category would include segments like IT Hardwares, IT Services, IT Software, IT Telecom, etc
• Own and sustain the development and execution of the category strategy through collaboration with business stakeholders and global / regional Procurement colleagues.
• Develop a deep understanding of the business requirements, value chain, total costs, risks and opportunities in order to deliver value to the company.
• Bring knowledge of suppliers and market expertise to the Category leadership and  stakeholder, including identification and development of innovation.
• Flawlessly execute the 7-step strategic sourcing process when sourcing all materials in compliance the LYB’s Delegation of Authority (DOA).
• Challenge sourcing activities, processes and existing practices to drive value.
• Manage bidding/tendering on ARIBA and negotiations and formalize contracts when appropriate.
• Be accountable for value creation aligned with annual targets.
• Take responsibility for supplier management, implementing supplier business reviews and other means of driving supplier performance in sustainable, systematic ways.
• Implements measurement systems that clearly indicate the performance level of sourcing strategy and supplier effectiveness
• Maintain focus on added value, lowest total “life cycle” cost, cost savings and cost avoidance
• Join supplier site audits with other functions when appropriate.
• Ensure suppliers have the capacity, financial stability, quality & technical capabilities to meet business requirements and establish supplier development / risk mitigation plans as appropriate.
• Work with business stakeholders for the development and deployment of appropriate supplier performance targets and KPIs.
• Promote excellent working relationship with internal and external stakeholders
• Lead or support sustainability initiatives (EcoVadis / TfS) for assigned suppliers and drive the rating improvement
• Ensure compliance and process standardization / improvements in line with regional / global policies
• Ensure that business delivers, departmental goals and measures are aligned

EDUCATION

University degree or minimum diploma, engineering background is preferred

WORK EXPERIENCE

1. 8-10 years of procurement experience in manufacturing set-up (chemicals, petrochemicals, plastics, pharma, foods & beverage, consumer durables, automotive, engineering, etc)
2. Techno-commercial professional with market knowledge of Technical equipments, MROs and Professional Services
