We are seeking to recruit a Transportation Scheduler for our site at Carrington.
Basell Polyolefins is a part of LyondellBasell, one of the worlds largest chemical companies, with sites in 32 countries worldwide. The  Carrington site is located approximately 10 miles from the city of Manchester, England, and covers an area of 300 acres.The site began operations in 1949, and today produces polypropylene resins used for a wide variety of products. Our polypropylene plant produces resins for use in carpet fibers, ropes and textiles, molded products such as food containers, crates, chairs, car components and film for many packaging applications

Basic Function

To arrange and organise transportation of bulk and packed vehicles, using the Delivery Due List (DDL) and Warehouse Management (WM) module to allocate stock by liaising with internal and external contacts eg. Customer Services, Hauliers, Customs Officials etc.

To manage the SAP extra costs for transportation and provide customs information as required.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Schedule the transportation requirements of the PP plant for both bulk and packed products. Includes the requirements of shipping into UK, Europe and International destinations.
  • Liaise with the Logistics Service Provider (LSP) to ensure warehouse and shipping office activities are optimised.
  • Identify the requirements for container loading and co-ordinate the activities required to ensure smooth collection and dispatch.
  • Liaise with “Freight forwarders and customs brokers” to ensure all the International shipping requirements are understood by Carrington, and transmitted to the warehouse teams.
  • Arrange customs documentation after collecting routing information and preparing SAP deliveries with information required for customs activities.
  • Co-ordinate the booking of all extra costs related to shipping activities from Carrington site. This which will include costs related to customer returns, re-routings, demurrage and all other surcharges.
  • Liaise with Sales / Hauliers to meet customer delivery dates.
  • Investigate Haulier complaints and provide information for management.
  • Check the Delivery Due screen for customer orders that are due for delivery, confirm with Haulier that they are able to meet the customer delivery date, assign product to the order using an agreed stock rotation policy & check that the vehicle arrives to load on time, to meet the required delivery date.
  • Liaise with other on site Logistic group members, i.e. Plant Schedulers, Stock Management, Warehouse Group, and other members of the dispatch office.
  • Manage the DDL/TMS systems with reference to customer specific requirements.
  • Carry out haulier reviews of performance with hauliers at least on an annual basis.
  • Learn and develop competency in other key roles within the Logistics team to ensure full business efficiency, multi-skilling appreciation of the duties of colleagues and the ability to further develop own career.  
  • Co-ordinate “Bags to Bulk” activities within the Logistics and warehouse teams.

Person Specification

Education:

 

  • Educated to NVQ3 level or equivalent in manufacturing or supply chain based learning.
  • Qualified to grade A-C level in GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English.

 

Work Experience: 

 

  • Experience of operating in SAP environment.
  • Experience in excess of 5 years within a similar shipping and warehousing environment is preferred.

 

Skills:

 

  • Communicate effectively: be effective in a variety of communication settings, listen to others, provide timely and helpful information to others, encourage expression of diverse ideas and opinions, listen to others
  • Technical knowledge:  Competent in a wide range of MS office applications including, but not exhaustively, Outlook, Power Point, Word and Excel.

 

Languages:

 

  • Must be fluent in written and verbal English. 

Terms and Conditions

We offer an attractive compensation package, which includes an salary package from £33,000 gross per annum and participation in the Company’s discretionary short-term incentive (bonus) programme. Currently, the full-year target bonus for this position is 6% of base salary.

The holiday entitlement is 25 days/annum plus bank holidays and we offer membership of the Company Defined Contribution Salary Sacrifice Pension scheme with employer contributions of up to 10% matching double employee contributions. We also offer Group Life & Income Protection insurances, a Health Cash Plan and a Cycle to Work Scheme.

Working hours are Monday - Friday, 8am-4pm, with a half hour break for lunch.
