Sr. Accountant

Basic Function

This position will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) with the main purpose to lead the Inventory Accounting activities in Asia/AfMEI region. Key responsibilities include, but not limited to, ensuring accurate complete and timely transactional processing with consistent application of global accounting procedures (in line with policy) and the sign off of appropriate accounting transactions. Transactional responsibilities include USGAAP and IFRS inventory accounting; FIFO inventory valuation, product costing, and inventory adjustments. This role is also responsible for accounting support and problem solving for inventory functional areas.

Roles & Responsibilities

1.    Lead and mentor Inventory Accounting peers in the delivery of efficient and effective services in accordance with corporate policies, legislative requirements and in line with customer expectations.

2.    Support the Inventory Accounting Regional Process Lead, Asia & AFMEI to deliver a culture of performance within the team, ensuring the company’s performance management process is embedded and delivered within the timelines.

3.    Deliver to the expectations of the Inventory Accounting Regional Process Lead, Asia & AFMEI in managing the respective processes ensuring tasks, activities and sub-processes are standardized and, aligned across the team.

4.    Transactional responsibilities include USGAPP, IFRS and local GAAP inventory accounting, FIFO inventory valuation, product costing, and inventory adjustments

5.    Responsible for accounting support and problem solving for inventory functional areas

6.    Liaise with Supply Chain team to resolve issues as they arise

7.    Support and implement agreed process improvement initiatives within the inventory accounting process team.

8.    Implement and track process performance indicators and metrics and explain trends in performance and against benchmarks.

9.    Implement and maintain desk top procedures and controls (in line with global standards).

10.    Deliver efficient and effective Inventory accounting services in line with corporate policies and legislative requirements.

11.    Perform SOX controls and maintain evidence of control for area of responsibility.

12.    Oversee physical inventory stock count, related account reconciliation, and the subsequent tasks including but not limited to accounting records adjustments

13.    Perform other ad hoc tasks as assigned

Personal Specification

•    Bachelor’s degree or above in Accounting, Finance or related discipline

Work Experience: 
•    8+ years of related accounting experience preferred
•    Have prior experience as a team leader
•    In-depth understanding of technical US GAAP and IFRS across a variety of topics is required.
•    Experience with Internal Controls and SOX/404 requirements.
•    Experience in a global, fast-paced, dynamic and deadline driven environment.
•    Good communication skills essential given diverse nature of operating landscape and cultural sensitivities.
•    Have a good understanding of the inventory accounting processes and KPIs
•    Previous participation in the configuration, design and testing of SAP Financial Application experience preferred.
•    Ability to operate with a high degree of integrity and will be expected to work on confidential projects.
•    Ability  to influence management decisions and behaviors that have an impact on process effectiveness.
Licenses & Certifications:
•    Professional qualifications: CPA and/or CIMA is preferred
