Category Manager, Polymer

Basic Function

This is a key position within APAC Raw Material & Utilities Procurement Department of LyondellBasell with high visibility across LyondellBasell’s APAC divisions and organizations. 
This role sets the strategic direction for, develops and leads the category strategy for Polymer (PP and other engineering plastic @ 200MM$/year) sourcing for APS Asia. In addition, this role will pre-actively work with global category manager on BCC sourcing initiatives. 
Utilizes comprehensive and systemic market analysis for the polymer ( especially PP/PE) procured to drive lowest total cost and maximum value to the company. Manages effective internal client and supplier relationships up to the senior level and is able to convincingly influence decision makers and stakeholders.
Understands the APAC polymer (PP/PE/Nylon, etc..) markets as well as LYB product safety requirement. Work closely with engineering team define best fit material and local supplier. 
Contributes to the implementation and continuous improvement of procurement processes, procedures and systems through written policies, procedures, training, and effective measures consistent with internal controls.

Roles & Responsibilities

•    Understand and interpret financial and macro/micro economic information/data from the market and from both LYB and suppliers to be able to devise ways to deliver value to the company employing different levers 
•    Executes strategic sourcing following the agreed processes and sourcing strategy methodology (7SSS, etc..)
•    Develop PP and EP category strategy to support APS APAC business growth and lead strategic long term supplier relationships and drive supplier innovation
•    Define LRP and annual operation plan to build up value generation pipeline.
•    Provide regular category market trend and work closely with business to define right purchasing plan.
•    Develop complex should cost models and financial metrics based on competitive intelligence of supplier assets and business strategies
•    Ensures the deployment of strategic purchasing plans driven by customer requirements, manufacturing results and capabilities, distribution and logistics objectives and business economics.
•    Maintains focus on value added activities and able to identify and implement alternative innovative, and creative solutions to drive lowest total cost of ownership. Capable of balancing cost saving opportunity with risk mitigation.
•    Promotes excellent working relationships with internal customers and other supporting organizations.
•    Perform yearly supplier performance rating with x-function team and supplier performance moniorting in terms of delivery and quality. 
•    Ensures that business drivers, departmental goals and measures are aligned.
•    Recognized as a leader and an expert in segments, commodities and/or categories assigned; providing 
       knowledge and expertise within this area.
•    Develops and implements supplier continuous improvement initiatives and overall supplier management.

Min. Qualifications

•    Bachelor's degree required (or recognized equivalent).
•    5~8 years of chemical or oil gas experience and knowledge related to purchasing/materials management or polymer marketing/engineering is required
•    Minimum 5 years’ experience required in chemical or related industry combined with purchasing and materials management strategy / contract management
•    Advanced knowledge and ability to apply the concepts of general business systems, personnel management, team dynamics, purchasing management, concepts of strategic planning and sourcing, performance measurements, and management through systems at local teams and sites.
•    Possesses an advanced understanding of markets and business practices at site and regional level .
•    Strong experience on NPI and material qualification process. 
•    Strong and familiar with project management process to drive efficient.
•    Advanced PC skills, including Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint, and knowledge of SAP, Procurement ERP systems eg: ARIBA.

Languages:
1.    Fluent in English language (speaking and writing). 
2.    Another European country language preferred.
