Basic Function

Provides leadership for ensuring the safe, cost effective, efficient, and environmentally responsible production of products in accordance with business plans and company objectives.  Accountable for all aspects of performance and for all personnel working on site.  Responsible for the professional development and career advancement team members.  Participates as a member of the overall USCAN APS Manufacturing Management Team and as member / leader of other Manufacturing and Company teams.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Site Leadership:  Lead in a manner consistent with the. LyondellBasell Leadership Principles through the application of the LyondellBasell Core Competencies.  Actively engage with the site workforce in the field / shop floor.  Set expectations concerning continual improvement in safety performance and lead the organization in achievement of safety goals and objectives.  Lead the change agenda by guiding the organization through the line organization and embracing a continuous improvement strategy.  Provide leadership that encourages supervisors and employees to think and act outside the box to address business needs.  Define clear roles and responsibilities for the site staff, provide authority to meet these roles and responsibilities and hold the organization accountable.  Identify the business and organizational needs of the site, ensure site organization is efficient and effective, and develop employees to meet these needs.  Value and champion diversity, inclusion and equity.  Ensure manufacturing systems are in place, functioning well and monitored through appropriate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).  Understand, communicate and act on site financial plans and results.
  •    Manufacturing Leadership: As an active member of the USCAN APS Manufacturing Staff, participate in the development and execution of manufacturing direction/strategy. Work with other Site Managers to define and advance strategies to ensure manufacturing effectiveness through world class people, processes and assets.
  • Company Leadership: Develop working relationships and goal alignment with other Site and functional managers.  Develop an understanding of Company goals and objectives to ensure that site activities are consistent.  Champion initiatives and innovation to pursue best practices within the organization and to identify and capture opportunities for synergies.
  •   HSE:  Ensure appropriate processes and systems are in place and lead the effort to maintain compliance with LyondellBasell Operational Excellence standards and applicable regulatory agency requirements.  Act as a role model for desired safety behaviors. Act as signature authority for all compliance documentation.  Ensure ethical behavior and regulatory compliance by all site personnel. Represent the Site in the community and develop political contacts with local government and community organizations.  Maintain the process and systems for quality certifications. 
  • Planning and Resource Management: Define and communicate clear vision, mission, and goals for the site, ensure alignment with the Company’s vision and business drivers.  Ensure goal alignment throughout the site organization and lead the organization to achievement of goals.  Develop plans to execute corporate initiatives.  Champion capital projects consistent with business needs, regulatory compliance and cost compliance.  Perform within budgets and production plans.  Actively manage site headcount according to low cost focus while ensuring effectiveness.  Ensure professional development of site employees and organization in support of Operational Excellence.

  • Communications: Develop an environment which allows for good communication up and down the organization and ensures the Performance Management process is being used effectively. Promote a sense of openness and trust, coupled with a sense of ownership and accountability. Through staff and supervision, communicate corporate and site vision and expectations to the work force to build alignment.  Communicate with staff and site to ensure all understand the current state of the business.

Min. Qualifications

•    Minimum of ten 10 years of manufacturing experience
•    Minimum of five 5 years of leadership experience in supervisory or management positions
•    A general knowledge and understanding of site operations, capacity planning and sound manufacturing principles
•    Experience with Operational Excellence programs and Continuous Improvement in leadership and contributing roles
•    Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational and administrative skills including the ability to interface with internal & external customer contacts
•    Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage effectively at all levels of the organization
•    Must possess a high level of initiative, be capable of independent decision-making and work effectively with minimal supervision
•    Must have excellent problem solving and organizational skills
•    Knowledge of quality systems and standards with a focus on driving continuous improvement
•    Must possess solid computer skills and working with production software, excel spreadsheets and other reporting applications
•    Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
•    General experience using ERP systems such as SA

Preferred Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Management, or other technical field preferred 
•    Experience with particle size reduction and/or polymer extrusion manufacturing process
•    Knowledge of engineering and technology principles and practices
•    Knowledge of business, finance and management principles and practices is a plus.
•    Working knowledge of SAP functionality
