This is the role

 

The Transfer Pricing team is part of the LyondellBasell Tax Department that works diligently to comply with the global transfer pricing requirements and to enhance shareholder value. To achieve our goals, we work closely with the business, other corporate functions (such as Treasury, Legal, Accounting, HR) and with the other Tax Department colleagues.

 

We are looking for an Assistant Manager located in our Rotterdam office – our EU HQ. In this role you will report to the Transfer Pricing Manager also located in Rotterdam but also interact heavily with the other transfer pricing team members based in the US. Job specification:


The ideal candidate will be a qualified tax professional who has previously gained experience in and knowledge of a similarly structured global organization (e.g. BIG 4 and/ or Industry). Working out of Rotterdam, the role requires a continuous stakeholder engagement with colleagues around the world, within and outside of the LyondellBasell Tax Department. We are looking for a colleague that enjoys being part of this continuous stakeholder engagement.
The candidate will be comfortable working on their own initiative to achieve objectives and deadlines relevant to the role requirements and business needs in a timely and accurate manner – you are a talented project manager that is able to think in processes.

Roles & Responsibilities

 

  • Develop and maintain relationships with the various business segment leaders including:
    • Reviewing and coordinating transfer pricing guidelines to ensure consistency and that the guideline meets arms-length principles
    • Frequent touchpoints with the business to ensure the transfer pricing team is brought into new transactions up front to assist with the transfer pricing design
  • Review the intercompany transactions for the applicable regions and/or segments responsible for including:
    • Independently review and test the transactions to determine whether adjustments are necessary to the transfer price guideline and ensure changes are executed accurately and timely
    • Monitor intercompany transactions and identify opportunities to enhance the transfer price setting
  • Assist in reviewing and managing the intercompany service charge process including:
    • Reviewing the calculation inputs for necessary updates on an annual basis
    • Reviewing the calculation and invoices that are prepared by accounting to ensure the charges are properly marked up and that the expenses are properly allocated amongst legal entities
    • Ensuring that proper documentation is maintained real time to support the charges in case of a future audit request
  • Develop and maintain relationships with others from finance, tax, and the supply chain organization to stay informed with changes that could impact the internal transfer prices applied and/or processes
  • Assist in managing transfer pricing compliance requirements (including but not limited to local files, notification forms, TP forms, etc.) with the help of external advisors primarily for Europe and Asia including:
    • Ensuring full compliance with the transfer pricing rules and documentation requirements of the local jurisdiction including that requirements are met timely
    • Providing all necessary intercompany information for transactions disclosed
    • Review filings to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Assist in handling tax audit requests for any transfer pricing information requests.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and/or automation related to transfer pricing policies in working with the Tax Technology team
  • Assist in identifying and implementing new tax requirements and policies based on enacted tax laws 
  • Assist in maintaining SOX controls and ensuring proper documentation is timely executed.  This also includes maintaining updates as needed, quarterly SOX validation, etc.
  • Prepare clear and concise technical tax memoranda
  • Assist with special projects, as needed
  • Lead and/or participate in internal and external training session

Qualifications

 

 

  • 5 to 8 years’ work experience ideally within in a large corporate tax environment and/or big 4 accounting firm
  • Tax Degree (Bachelor or Master) required 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Ability to work well with others under minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment which requires prioritization and ability to multi-task
  • Highly self-motivated; takes initiative; identifies and addresses issues; works efficiently with attention to detail
  • Experience with project management and capable of identifying and capturing process improvement opportunities
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Working knowledge of SAP and Alteryx is a plus
