This is the role

LyondellBasell's well-regarded Law Department is seeking an experienced corporate transactions attorney to support international merger, acquisition, divestiture, joint venture and other corporate transactional activities, as well as assist with corporate governance matters. This is an opportunity to directly contribute to the Company’s growth and sustainability goals, work with a cross-functional team and gain in-house transactional experience and knowledge of our many businesses. 

You will report to the Lead Counsel, M&A and Governance and serve as the lead attorney for major transactions across Europe, Asia, and elsewhere in the Company’s global footprint. 

 

Some core responsibilities:

  • Support merger, acquisition, divestiture, joint venture and other corporate transactional activities, including strategic activity in furtherance of the Company’s sustainability and circularity goals;
  • Manage all legal aspects of transactions, including advising on legal risks, coordinating document requests and diligence reviews, collaborating with functions across the enterprise, managing outside counsel, and drafting and negotiating deal documentation; 
  • Provide advice and counsel on corporate governance and Dutch public company matters;
  • Assist in oversight of maintenance of subsidiaries throughout the Company’s multinational footprint;
  • Research governance requirements and disclosure mandates and best practices;
  • Participate in the design and provision of training to internal teams, and in the development and implementation of new processes and procedures.

You bring expertise in all aspects of negotiating, evaluating and executing on mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures. You easily connect and collaborate with internal stakeholders from other departments and follow the right procedures to advance a transaction. You are able to communicate clearly and effectively in advising the company on related legal risks and requirements. 

This is what you bring

  • Law degree and admission to practice law;
  • 10+ years M&A and other corporate transactional experience with a firm and/or in-house required;
  • Industry experience preferred;
  • Some travel required;
  • Fluent in English is a must and any other language is a plus.
