This is the role

 

The Senior Advisor, Corporate Communications implements a full range of Corporate Communications strategies and tactics to ensure integration of company initiatives, including stakeholder engagement, media relations, social media, social investment and communications measurement. He/She will be responsible for supporting EAI-related M&A and divestment activities and associated strategic change management. In this role, this individual will provide strategic communications counsel to business leads. He/She will also lead the EAI Editorial Team and platform integration in EAI (e.g., Jetty and OneNote), as well as manage storytelling across Europe. This individual will provide project support, occasionally serving in a lead role. Additionally, he/she will provide issues and crisis support, as well as serving as the focal point for managing approvals for external presentations and content. 

 

This individual must operate with an enterprise view and assist in ensuring alignment which considers both the country or region-specific strategies. He/She will support the Europe team’s work in identifying and addressing emerging trends/issues to minimize potential reputational impacts. Additionally, this individual will work cohesively with the Government Relations team in support of stakeholder local and regional initiatives and activities.
He/She will be a trusted business partner for multiple internal clients, will have the ability to manage multiple projects, and must interact professionally and appropriately with Public Affairs counterparts, as well as executives and others inside and outside the Company.


This position will report to the Senior Manager, EAI External Affairs, Issues & Crisis Management and will be located in the LyondellBasell Rotterdam office.

These are your roles & responsibilities

 

In this position you will work on the following:

 

  • Collaborate with the Public Affairs Leadership Team to develop and execute communications plans and campaigns for a wide array of corporate activities
  • Lead a full range of Corporate Communications strategies and tactics with an enterprise view to ensure integration of company initiatives, including stakeholder engagement, media relations, employee communications, social media, social investment and communications measurement
  • Provide leadership counsel to ensure reputation management and leads stakeholder / client interactions and corporate citizenship activities
  • Lead strategic planning exercises to develop innovative ideas and concepts 
  • Utilize external analysis to strategically advise the business leads and executives in managing campaigns, issues, trends and topics. 
  • Lead and foster an environment for content creation and visual storytelling for LyondellBasell 
  • Drive the alignment and information sharing among the Public Affairs team about new messaging, resources, upcoming events/activities, etc. 
  • Project owner and/or lead, creating and executing campaigns and projects with skill and professionalism
  • Think several steps ahead and anticipates the needs of clients / stakeholders and management
  • Proactively facilitate Public Affairs collaboration and functional alignment 
  • Manage and develop communications resources and toolkits including but not limited to key message documents, power point presentations, and training materials
  • Use metrics to drive decision-making in support of continuous improvement
  • Represent the company with the utmost integrity and abides by the LyondellBasell Code of Conduct
  • Act as a company spokesperson and manage media / stakeholder interactions, as well as serve as an incident response communications focal point.
  • Develop, review and edit communications materials from other functional areas where applicable (e.g., external, marketing communications, internal) for accuracy and consistency
  • Cultivate and enhance solid client / stakeholder relationships, as well as develop and execute engagement plans and activities in support of the business objectives
  • Counsel and influence business leaders and/or senior management to increase engagement and / or company reputation 
  • Build consensus and secure buy-in/approval on communications approach 
  • Partner with in-house design team to execute creative concepts in alignment with overarching corporate messaging and brand standards

This is what you bring

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or related field 
  • Minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience in a communications-related field with strong writing, verbal and presentation skills. 
  • Prior corporate communications experience working across functional teams and with business leaders on complex projects.
  • Chemical industry or similar experience is preferred.
  • Experience in external communications, stakeholder engagement and issues management is preferred
  • Agency experience is a plus. 
  • Knowledge of AP style preferred.
  • English is required, additional languages including Dutch are a plus

  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and manage sensitive materials
