This is the role

 

The purpose of the Sales Director role is to lead the assigned team of Sales Managers, develop and execute the APS EU Sales Plan, based on the respective Marketing strategies, realizing the budgeted Customer/Product sales volume at differential pricing, managing senior management relationships with strategic accounts in Europe, capturing growth opportunities in targeted applications, driving excellence in business processes like Pricing, S&OP, Credit management, QN, SF, CX, reporting on Sales KPI’s, cooperating with the Marketing, NBD, ADTS, CS and Credit team and coordinating with peers in other APS Regions and O&P.

Roles & Responsibilities

 

  • Ensures, promotes and implements highest safety policies and standards.
  • Defines goals & objectives for APS Sales EU Team in accordance with, and ensures consistent execution of, the business strategy across the region/segment for the relevant APS product lines in selected channels to market.
  • Builds, develops, and motivates the team of Sales and Account Managers to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness towards the APS Sales Goals and Objectives. 
  • Ensures all policies and procedures are respected by the team and proactively “lives” them 
  • Drives for results and achieves sales and pricing objectives in terms of contribution margin, volume, differential pricing, quality and services for the team and assigned customers. 
  • Develops and nurtures relationships with senior managers of Key Account DMU's to support Key Account Managers in their goals and objectives. 
  • Manages working capital related parameters like consignment stocks, payment terms, overdues, discounts, rebate agreements, complexity of customer specific products & services in order to attain best balance of costs and exposure to net income. 
  • Ensures pricing policy is implemented in accordance with pricing guidelines, in order to maximize the absolute margin return and develops pricing tools to enable efficient pricing management.
  • Works closely with Internal stakeholders (Finance, Credit, Quality, CS, Legal, HR) to drive excellence in all sales related processes.
  • Develops and implements Customer Segmentation with differentiated Service levels
  • Initiates and drives continuous improvement projects
  • Ensure Contract Management policies are implemented and adopted
  • Supports Customer Service to ensure customer service levels are met according to customer classification and Service Level Agreements.
  • Develops and executes Sales Plan including annual budget. 
  • Drives operational and commercial excellence in S&OP (FC accuracy), Pricing Management, Contract Management, SoX checks.
  • Drives Customer Excellence through adoption of Salesforce and development of Customer interfacing portals (CX, CE tools)
  • Frequently reports on main KPI’s in the region
  • Recruits, Inspires, coaches and gives feedback to the Sales Managers and facilitates them in achieving the APS EU sales objectives

This is what you bring

 

  • University or college degree in Business Administration, in Sciences or Engineering; 
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in managerial roles in Polymers, Sales, Business Management in an international industrial business environment, or Marketing preferably in the plastic or chemical sector or related end markets.
  • Basic IT skills (Microsoft Outlook, Office Powerpoint/Word/Excel, Microsoft Teams, SAP R/3, SalesForce)
  • English in combination with at least one local language in the applicable region
