Announcement

In June 2025, LYB announced entering into an agreement and exclusive negotiations for the sale of four olefins & polyolefins sites and the associated business in Europe. The sites to be sold are located in Berre (France), Münchsmünster (Germany), Carrington (UK), and Tarragona (Spain). The sites together represent a scaled olefins and polyolefins platform strategically located in proximity to a longstanding customer base and with access and connectivity to key infrastructure.  

Closing of the proposed transaction is currently expected in the first half of 2026. From the start, the new company will be a scaled leader in European Olefins & Polyolefins. Powered by strategically located assets, a diverse product portfolio, and operational excellence, it aims to transform the business, fostering an agile, entrepreneurial culture where fast decision-making and hands-on collaboration drive transformation and growth.

You will be crucial to a successful transition and, when the sale is closed, success of the new company. You will become part of a new dynamic organization with around 1,800 employees, headquarters in Rotterdam and production sites in France, Germany, UK and Spain with a strong focus on customer excellence.

This is the role

The purpose of this role is to provide basic legal & administrative support to the NewCo Legal team. The team exists of 6 Counsels, based throughout Europe. The right candidate is able to help lawyers work more efficiently by handling many of the essential tasks involved in legal case and by organizing workload to meet established priorities.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Provide broad based legal support services to counsel in the form of legal research, drafting of communications, and internal systems support and maintenance;
  • Review and draft contracts and other legal documents for attorney review;
  • Develop and maintain internal information data bases;
  • Performing duties such as creating and preparing routine materials, proofreading, verifying, and editing all materials for accuracy and clarity;
  • Contribute to evaluating internal (legal) processes and make appropriate recommendations for improvement;
  • Support litigation and due diligence processes via the collection of information and follow-up on requests for documentation;
  • Provide support for corporate housekeeping;
  • Manage administrative matters with outside counsel and other service providers, follow billing and payment of outside consultants and firms, support in budget management (reporting and spreadsheets).

To be successful in this role, you must recognize yourself in the following profile:
The role requires strong English communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Candidates must understand business proposals, identify the correct document templates, and work both independently and as part of a team while keeping management informed. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential, with experience in SAP or other legal and budget systems considered an advantage. The ideal candidate is self‑motivated, professional in written communication, and able to meet deadlines under pressure.

This is what you bring

  • Bachelor / Master degree in law preferred;
  • 2-4 years’ experience within a reputable law firm or in-house or professional services firm;
  • Specific experience in contract law and exposure to litigation desired.
