This is the role

 

The purpose of the job is to develop and implement market, product and pricing strategies which create market value and capture the maximum potential for the Catalloy business, where LYB has differentiated technology and commercial position. 

 

The incumbent’s responsibility includes structuring and driving market and product optimization initiatives in close collaboration with Asset Management & Planning, Sales, Finance, ADTS and other regional counterparts.

Roles & Responsibilities

 

  • Develop and maintain detailed analysis of relevant and appropriately segmented markets, identifying key drivers, competitive dynamics and customer/product portfolios using established and new marketing excellence tools. Develop corresponding strategy for LYB to optimize value participation consistent with overall business strategy and asset capabilities in order to ensure clear and concise focus on key success factors in each market segment and initiatives required to create / capture optimal value.
  • Define corresponding market, product, customer and asset developments/actions required to implement strategy. Liaise with regional counterparts to maintain oversight of global market developments and value proposition cohesion across the regions.
  • Understand business performance vs. external/internal benchmarks and identify actions to close gaps as appropriate.
  • Develop detailed annual marketing plan addressing initiatives required in terms of marketing, products, customers, contract positioning, price positioning and asset capability in close collaboration with Asset Management, ADTS and Sales in order to ensure effective and rapid implementation of actions to maximize value from respective markets and LYB assets. 
  • Contribute to short term results and execution of marketing plan through development of price set strategies and oversight of short-term pricing guidelines and corresponding decision support, performance reporting, analysis of market and competitive trends and product and customer portfolio management. Develop and maintain appropriate analytical models to understand addressable markets and market trends. 
  • Active management of product portfolio together with Asset Management to ensure appropriate balance between innovative/differentiated products, balance asset complexity and appropriate value positioning to ensure coherent linkage between market needs and asset capabilities. 
  • Develop and communicate a value proposition for the business and the market sub-segments. Create and implement corresponding market communication strategy, together with Corporate Communications, including but not limited to meaningful ammunition packages, external webinars on new product/ application developments and thought leadership/innovation papers to reach out to a broad range of stakeholder communities, direct and indirect customers and brand owners. Manage trademark and branding related activities.
  • Structure innovation ideas into well-defined projects in close collaboration with ADTS and Asset Management. Optimize positioning of new innovations based on value in use.  
  • Prepare volume and margin calls for the monthly financial forecast. Report result performance and price compliance through adequate management tools, such as Sarbanes Oxley, mid-month report and financial summary.
  • Develop and prepare business plan and LRP data together with BDA and business Finance. Organize internal sales and business review meeting. Proactively co-develop with Sales appropriate channels to market, including evaluating and developing distributors as needed. Support Sales with increasing visibility of targeted growth products/platforms at multi-product customers.
  • Support customer account management and engage with OEM’s and brand owners and industry forums as appropriate. 
  • Accountability for settlement of customer claims in order to ensure minimization of cost of quality and appropriate customer satisfaction.

This is what you bring

 

  • University degree in Engineering or Business Administration. MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Marketing, Sales/Business Development, ADTS or Asset Management position
  • Good technical understanding of polyolefins/compounds products and applications
  • Experience with relevant product development and application development desirable
  • Project exposure or project management experience
  • Sound technical and/ or commercial and/ or marketing experience
  • Fluency in English, written and oral, required.
  • In addition, knowledge of at least one regional language preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability in preparation of marketing plans from analysis through to implementation. 
  • Understanding of LyondellBasell’s core technologies, products and customer portfolio. 
  • Technology skills (production-plants, process, applications, products, asset footprint).
