This is the role

As a Major Account Manager you represent the lead commercial interface between LyondellBasell and some of its largest European customers. The portfolio represents yearly revenues of approximately 250 MMEUR. The main responsibility for this role is to drive the account strategy, manage and develop customer relationship in support of the business objectives, with responsibility for all commercial and operational activities with these major accounts. Your roles and responsibilities will be:

  • Leadership of the interface between LyondellBasell and its designated current and prospect accounts for the Intermediate & Derivatives products in Europe.
  • Development and management of extensive relationships with key managers and executives in all relevant parts of the account organization: In-depth knowledge and understanding of key account business, culture, strategies and associated market trends. Coordinate global account strategies and plans where required.
  • Working with business management and legal, define and align on major account contract terms and structures. Leadership of negotiation process and closure with customers. Ownership for the monthly contract price negotiation process.
  • Act as focal point for all assigned global key accounts, interacting with the commercial and marketing organization across all regions.
  • Development and management of deep and extensive relationships with key managers and executives in all relevant parts of the account organization: In-depth knowledge and understanding of key account business, culture, strategies and associated market trends.
  • Development of strategic account plans consistent with principal business targets, with clearly defined goals and objectives, and assignment of responsibility to meet them.
  • Lead negotiation of all sales and service agreements with assigned accounts. Responsible for providing market intelligence for region and segments, through ongoing monitoring and assessment of competitive activity and performance.
  • Responsible for supporting and guiding all sales related business functions such as logistics, customer service, credit, with regards to the requirements of the assigned customer portfolio in the region.

  • Able to operate effectively at senior level both internally and externally - externally it is essential to be able to develop a network of senior contacts accross his/her customer base.

This is what you bring

  • Technical or Business Master’s degree;
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in sales or related commercial functions in the chemical industry;
  • Living in Rotterdam area, or willing to relocate
  • Language skills required: Fluent English, German desirable.
