This is the role


This position is responsible for ensuring accurate, complete and timely Inventory Accounting transactional processing for two Italian sites with consistent application of global accounting procedures (in line with policy) and the sign-off of appropriate accounting transactions. Transactional responsibilities include USGAAP and IFRS inventory accounting; FIFO inventory valuation, product costing, and inventory adjustments.
The primary responsibility for this position is accounting support and problem solving within the Inventory Accounting functional area and will also provide additional support in a dotted-reporting line capacity to the CAO and Manufacturing Controlling & Analysis process areas.

These are your roles & responsibilities


You will work on a number of fields:


Inventory Accounting

  • Transactional responsibilities include US GAAP, IFRS and local (Italian) GAAP inventory accounting, FIFO inventory valuation, product costing, and inventory adjustments
  • Responsible for accounting support and problem solving for inventory functional areas
  • Liaise with supply chain teams to resolve issues as they arise
  • Support and implement agreed process improvement initiatives within the inventory accounting process team.
  • Implement and track process performance indicators and metrics and explain trends in performance and against benchmarks.
  • Implement and maintain desktop procedures and controls (in line with global standards).
  • Deliver efficient and effective Inventory accounting services in line with corporate policies and legislative requirements.
  • Lead and mentor Inventory Accounting peers in the delivery of efficient and effective services in accordance with corporate policies, legislative requirements and in line with customer expectations.
  • Support the line manager to deliver a culture of performance within the team, ensuring the company’s performance management process is embedded and delivered within the timelines.
  • Deliver to the expectations of the line manager in managing the respective processes ensuring tasks, activities and sub-processes are standardized and, aligned across the team.
  • Perform accurate, complete and timely SOX controls and maintain evidence of controls for area of responsibility.
  • Oversee physical inventory stock count, related account reconciliation, and the subsequent tasks including but not limited to accounting records adjustments
  • Perform any other ad hoc tasks as assigned

Accounting and Reporting support (CAO)

  • Support  financial reporting related to Inventory Accounting area across Italian manufacturing sites  for reports required by the Supervisory Board (for Italian legal entities).

Manufacturing Controlling & Analysis support

  • Support activities related to manufacturing cost and cost control reviews of data quality prior to assessment cycles, maintenance and execution of assessment cycles.
  • Provide additional ad-hoc financial plant support and perform cost center variance analysis, fixed & variable costs reporting and activity rates analysis performed outside yearly budgets

This is what you bring


  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
  • Professional qualifications: certifications such as CPA and/or CIMA are preferred but is not mandatory
  • 8+ years of related accounting experience preferred
  • In-depth understanding of technical US GAAP and IFRS across a variety of topics is required.
  • Experience with Internal Controls and SOX/404 requirements.
  • Experience in a global, fast-paced, dynamic and deadline driven environment.
  • Extensive user of ERP systems, ideally SAP and prefarably previous participation in the configuration, design and testing of SAP Financial Application experience preferred.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access

  • Fluent in English is required, good spoken & written Italian is a great advantage.
  • Good communication skills are essential given the diverse nature of operating landscape and cultural sensitivities.
  • Have a good understanding of the inventory accounting processes and KPIs
  • Ability to operate with a high degree of integrity and will be expected to work on confidential projects.
  • Ability to influence management decisions and behaviors that have an impact on process effectiveness.
  • Able to handle multi-tasks and meet deadlines
  • Passion for driving continuous improvements
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills essential given diverse nature of operating landscape and cultural sensitivities
