This is the role

This entry commercial role within the EMEA Intermediates & Derivatives Sales Team is an individual contributor position with the purpose to represent the company and execute business strategies, identify new business opportunities, manage customer relationships in the domestic and export markets, increase overall value creation and manage the full order-to-cash process. We are looking for a dynamic, commercial and agile individual who can drive a growth agenda with direct accounts and indirect sales channels and someone aspiring a career in a sales organization.

Some of the responsibilities 

  • Drives for results and achieves sales and pricing objectives in terms of contribution margin, volume, customer share, cost management and working capital.
  • Engages with current and prospective small & medium sized customers through phone, email, portals to identify and analyze customer needs and develops commercial solutions.
  • Develops and nurtures relationships with key stakeholders, externally with customers, and internally with Sales, Marketing, Technical Service, Customer Service, Supply Chain and Credit and establishes solid relationships with them. 
  • Contributes to enhance LYB market intelligence utilizing our CRM solution (Sales Force).
  • On ad-hoc basis supports key account managers with specific business development projects at existing accounts (e.g. sampling coordination).
  • Respects all LYB policies and procedures, compliance guidance  and embraces the Vision, Mission, Values of LYB.


This position will be based in Rotterdam, European HQ (NL) and reports into the I&D Regional Sales & Distribution Manager.

You are customer focused and a good listener to understand customer’s needs. You are able to negotiate skillfully in tough situations with both internal and external groups. Can be direct and forceful as well as diplomatic. You easily present information in a simple way, clearly communicating the key messages and engages the audience. Your drive is to find opportunities to continuously learn about LYB products and services to be able to clearly articulate these in a strong value proposition for the partner entity.

This is what you bring

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in scientific, technical or business field;
  • Up to 3 years of professional experience with commercial acumen;
  • Fluent in Dutch and English and at least one other European language (preferably German);
  • Developed IT skills (Microsoft Office Word/Excel/PowerPoint, SAP R/3, SalesForce) is a plus or to be trained.
