You will report to the Sr. HR Manager Europe, Commercial & Corporate Functions. The role will have close (virtual) interactions with the HR Assistants, other HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition and HR Center of Excellence staff, and various Policy teams both local and abroad. 

A Day in the Life

This HR Business Partner position will have responsibility for the HR partnership role supporting the Corporate Staff Functions in LyondellBasell’s European Headquarters approx. 206 staff. You will also look after the 39 staff from Manufacturing, HSE and Global Engineering based at the Rotterdam office. This position will be expected to provide end to end HR services to all levels of leadership and employees within its area of responsibility. You will focus on delivery of the HR policies, processes, and developing different HR topics. 
As HR Business Manager for Staff Functions you will be accountable for the HR operations in the Regional Head Office of LyondellBasell based in Rotterdam as well as pan European coordination of Talent Management and change in the Staff Function organizations. The internationally diverse population include employees across the Functions IT, Finance, and Legal with a senior representation of this community.
In support of LyondellBasell’s strategic growth ambition, both organic and non-organic, it is essential a well aligned People Agenda set in close conjunction with the respective Business Partners.
The role includes providing HR Leadership advice, coaching, (organizational) change management, facilitation, maintaining employee relations, career development and general HR support to this population/these populations. Business Partnering and Stakeholder Management, including working through virtual lines, are key in this role as you will interact with stakeholders at a high level of seniority. You will build and maintain a constructive relationship with the local works counsel and manage employee relations in the broader sense.


RESPONSIBILITIES


•    Partnership with the Business to ensure the delivery of the local HR plan and the global HR strategies at the local level;
•    Build capabilities to operationalize the HR processes, and support the line managers with local implementation of changes;
•    Advise line managers on organizational structures and processes to ensure that the HR implications of change programs are considered and planned for. Ensure that the staff consultation processes if and when required are appropriately managed;
•    Provide insightful management information (HR data) to Leadership teams to ensure Resourcing and Talent Management is addressed appropriately;
•    Deliver targeted performance improvement interventions at individual and team levels. Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions);
•    Facilitate interventions with client population, e.g. team development;
•    Knowledge of Dutch labour law; Maintains required knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance;
•    Analyses trends and metrics in partnership with HR Team to develop solutions, programs and recommend needed policies or policy edits;
•    Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective thorough and objective investigations;
•    Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity, grow talent pipeline and increase retention.

You Bring This Value

  • Applicable Master’s degree in HR, Business Administration or equivalent;
  • 5-10 years or more of HR experience. Relevant experience includes that the candidate has demonstrated success and advancement within a Corporate Organization, within an international setting, with broad experience in HR Generalist roles;
  • Proved ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, manage issues, identify and mitigate risks while positively influencing future strategy and direction of the department;
  • Ability to collaborate, influence and build strong relationships at all levels of the organization;
  • Proven ability to understand key HR business drivers and processes;
  • Proficiency in the use of SAP, payroll and/or any other related tools, including MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Keen judgment is critical: Ability to discern critical priorities. Also important is knowing when to intervene; what information is reliable and what needs to be questioned; how to best keep the leaders focused on top priorities;
  • Fluency in Dutch and English.
