This is the role

As an Global subsidy manager, Innovation and R&D you will provide operational support throughout the subsidy/grant application process. This includes identifying Innovation and R&D funding opportunities, developing proposals and grant writing, submitting applications and participating in award negotiations. This role also involves ensuring compliance and audit safety in the execution of subsidies to maximize their value. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Analyse the market to identify subsidy opportunities aligned to LYB identified priorities with respect to Innovation and R&D;
  • Manage the Innovation and R&D funding applications in Europe and North America in cooperation with all stakeholders involved internally and externally;
  • Keep track of project submission timelines and deadlines and coordinate the process to meeting the delivery/submission dates as well as requirements on content to be successful;
  • Post application submittal, follow applications through approval, through execution of funds and ensure all requirements are met to sustain subsidies over time;
  • Develop, execute and assure compliant and audit-trail safe execution processes integrated within LYB’s systems and ensure compliance with requisite funding authorities at EU Commission and US Federal levels;
  • Support the Innovation and R&D 5 year plans, LYB is planning as part of our Sustainability Strategy in both regions;
  • Alignment and close cooperation with multiple internal and external functions and stakeholders to ensure alignment and prioritization of subsidy/grant plans globally regarding Innovation and R&D;
  • Day to day coordination and medium term management of the supporting consultant resources to ensure adequate support to be successful;
  • Align with Subsidy team regarding the other capex initiatives in both regions;
  • Support in negotiations of future grant agreements regarding Innovation and R&D with the EU Commission and US Federal organizations.

You have the ability to identify and build strong working relationships with public officials and other key policy stakeholders. With your listening and communication skills you can easily resolve issues tactfully and diplomatically. You have demonstrated history of success in structured, process-driven work environments that demand a high level of reliability and meticulousness. You possess strong collaboration skills, enabling you to effectively work with individuals at all levels of the organization/management and exert influence in decision-making processes within matrix organizations. To excel in this role, you will need a deep understanding of LyondellBasell’s Innovations and R&D initiatives, as well as thorough knowledge of the company’s sustainability and circularity initiatives. Please enter minimum qualifications here.

This is what you bring

  • A higher education qualification in political science, public policy, business management, economics or science/research (Chemistry or Engineering in particular);
  • An advanced degree in business, law or public policy would be a plus;
  • 15+ years of experience in chemical industry minimum;
  • Some years of experience with EU Commission, US Federal, and/or national innovation and R&D funding programs is needed;
  • Experience working in an international company and/or trade association;
  • Demonstrated competency to lead and manage complex cross-functional initiatives; 
  • English fluent (written and spoken), plus additional European languages would be a plus.
