This is the role

As a Cracker Feedstock Procurement Manager you are responsible for supplying LyondellBasell’s European cracker(s) with feedstock. You also have a clear understanding of global feedstock market fundamentals, regional interactions, relationships with the futures markets, and cross product interdependencies.  Responsible for effective communication to senior management.  Understands enterprise future feedstock requirements including business scenarios which may lead to revisions, inventory requirements, impact on working capital, price trends and market shifts. Use this information to develop and execute long-term purchase and inventory strategies.

You will support to develop long- and medium-term strategies with business management to minimize feedstock cost and optimize feedslate for our steam crackers, identifying long and short-term market opportunities. As well as defining optimum structure (contract/spot) and manage the associated opportunities and risks. Besides you must be able to adjust strategies and tactics reflecting changing manufacturing and market condition.

You are part of a team of 10 commercial feedstock and energy colleagues. Working together with numerous  stakeholders, such as planning, technology, supply logistics, credit, finance, supply accounting, and cracker optimization in a dynamic real-time market environment. Work closely with Manufacturing organization to ensure optimal feeds at all times. You will report to the Director Feedstock & Energy O&P EU.

Responsibilities: 

• Responsible for and owner of spot and long-term contracts for feedstocks supplies, streams coming and going to adjacent refineries, as well as spot markets. 
• Monitor performance and effectiveness of activities against targets and take action as required.
• Ensuring sufficient feedstock at all times taking into account working capital requirements
• Expand the supply portfolio by adding new sources, feedstock qualities and suppliers
• Managing Feedstock quality claims
• Develop and maintain strong supplier/ customer relationships and represent LyondellBasell in appropriate industry environments.
• Drive profit generating projects for Capex investments and bring opportunities to Leadership team
• Work closely together with back –offices in Rotterdam as well as on the cracker sites to drive for efficient and effective processes and to drive for alignment and standardization
• Commercially responsible for feedstock storage- and throughput agreements. Ensure optimization of transportation fleet of feedstocks
• Act as liaison with other business and manufacturing groups within LyondellBasell to ensure that company strategies and directives involving feedstocks are known and met. Works with Business, Optimization (within I&D and O&P), and Manufacturing to optimize contract portfolio. Communicate market trends to groups within LyondellBasell who need this information to optimize their performance.

You  possess excellent communication skills, on senior management as well as operational level, with manufacturing as well as business. With your strong analytical skills, you are able to make decisive market calls with significant P&L impact in complex, ambiguous feedstock spot and forward markets. One of your strengths is to quickly comprehend and act within a dynamic energy market, with volatile futures market, and changing forward markets.

This is what you bring

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering Required. Master’s Degree preferred.
• 10-15 years of experience preferred in petrochemical or oil and gas industry, with at least 5-10 years commercial experience;
• Trading and risk management experience;
• The ability to understand cracker technology and set up and impact of feedstocks on yields;
• Fluency in English is a must and any other language is a plus.
