Advanced Polymer Solutions (APS) is a strategic business unit within LYB with $4Bn in revenue, 60 manufacturing sites, serving > 16000 customer and with an active formulation library of over 100k formulation. It was formed in 2018 following the acquisition of A Schulman and is a global leader in compounding solutions. The business is highly complex and being excellent at running a complex business with high service level is part of the business model. APS has launched a transformational program to grow earnings from just over $100 MM in 2022 to >$500MM in 2028.
The Electrical Components Global Application Segment Leader role is a critical role that has been created to develop a global strategy for Electrical Components and execute it via the global organization to drive growth in Performance Materials where APS aspires to be one of the global leaders in material solutions.
A Day in the Life
As the Electrical Components Global Application Segment Leader you’ll be responsible to develop and execute a strategy for existing or new APS Performance Material products in the application segment Electrical Components which includes driving growth outside of existing sales to reach our APS growth targets in cooperation with all dedicated members from the regional teams (Business, NBD, Sales, Technology and Development/PAD).
The role aims to:
- Develop segment strategy across APS product portfolio:
- Identifying targeted applications (understand application requirements vs APS capability)
- Identifying targeted customers (including potential SGAs)
- Understanding competitive environment
- Establishing Value Proposition (Product & Service), by assessing existing portfolio and identify strengths and gaps and developing multigenerational portfolio roadmap.
- Mapping existing portfolio against manufacturing capabilities (global vs regional grades)
- Develop global execution plan:
- Agreeing coverage of critical accounts with Regional Sales Directors
- Looking for regional enablers to execute the plan
- Developing Selling tools for each region like the value proposition (including competitive overview) and success stories
- Collaborating with other resources (Development, CAE/CAD, testing, Quality, etc.)
- Establish segment management cadence to drive execution process. With a clearly set Roadmap including strategic priorities and enablers, the regional teams have to execute the plan and create a robust project growth funnel with a revenue, margin plan that aligns with each business' goals (Value Enhancement Program). The role includes also the steering of the plan globally.
This role requires high collaboration with Business Leaders and regionally appointed local segment leaders.
You Bring This Value
- Master’s degree in business, industrial marketing, science or engineering
- 10-15 years of experience in diverse range of technical, business and/or commercial roles, business development and project management experience, as well as exposure to E&E (Electric and Electronic) industry, automotive as a plus
- Thorough understanding and knowledge of the Electrical Components application technical requirements.
- In-depth knowledge of the Electrical Components industry landscape in Engineered thermoplastics (i.e., Polypropylene, Polyamide, Polycarbonate, Polyester, Styrenics, TPE).
- Knowledge of properties, characteristics and processing behavior of polymeric materials, additives, functional modifiers, and the formulation thereof is a plus.
- Experience in managing and prioritizing of project activities, including project terminations when needed. Knows the concepts of stage gate process and can build a disciplined management process with multiple stakeholders.
- Has a track record of successfully driving growth.
- Has experience in driving complex collaborative growth project with customers. Demonstrated experience influencing and steering both internal and external stakeholder toward business goals.
- Languages: English, an additional language is preferred
