To meet these goals, technology will be needed to enable solutions, measure our progress and make controlled data visible. The Product Teams for Sustainability, Circularity and Climate will act as the foundation for enabling this new vision.
The Director of IT, Product Teams: Sustainability, Circularity and Climate is responsible for establishing the architecture, data and solutions that propels the organization to meet their mission. This leader will oversee an organization that provides the skills required to deliver cloud-based data-centric solutions across all functions to ensure we are meeting our aspirational sustainability goals.
To support this broad scope, the Director will manage a global team of highly effective business relationship management and technical resources to provide strategic direction, business partnering, consulting services, requirements, architecture, design, delivery, development, project implementation, and operational support for a global portfolio.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the CIO, the Director – Product Teams: Sustainability, Circularity and Climate will be responsible for leading the associated IT product teams to deliver IT solutions and applications within the space. The Director manages a team of professionals consisting of product managers, SAP engineers, analysts and developers. Team composition includes employees (both direct reporting and matrixed) and third-party partners.
The Director will have budget accountability for Sustainability, Circularity and Climate related to LRP initiatives delivering some of the key value propositions for the company. This position will partner closely with the VP and Chief Sustainability Officer, Chief Procurement Officer, and EVP, Circular and Low Carbon Business Solutions and their staff to implement technology solutions to meet the corporate goals in these areas and support the global initiatives for the over-arching LYB sustainability effort.
This is what you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field required
- 10+ years of software development, product management or business analyst experience in a technology business with demonstrated success in sales and/or customer use through the delivery of new/evolving products
- Typically requires experience including 10+ years leading international functional teams
- Demonstrated leadership experience in product management
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to identify metrics/key performance measures and use data to drive decisions that enhance the customer & user experience
- Strong product strategy, roadmap, and feature management skills. Experience with Agile methodology and tools
- Curiosity and high energy level required to proactively engage with business partners
- Demonstrated success in creative problem solving and proven ability to work cross functionally and build partnership to deliver results and influence change in a large complex organization
- Proven business acumen to assess the best analytics approach given business requirements and constraints
- Proven ability to drive, manage, and influence multiple competing priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment where deadline-oriented use case adoption and continuous innovation is desired
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must. Experience working and communicating with senior executives
- Demonstrated ability to develop business cases and track business benefits, including calculating return on investment (ROI), P&L savings, cash flow impact, and other key business metrics
- Strong knowledge of data science and visualization tools is desired. Familiar with machine learning, AI, and advanced analytics applications
- Experience with manufacturing and supply chain is a plus
- Proven leadership ability
- Demonstrated executive presence and influence, ability to build client relationships and create client satisfaction throughout the application lifecycle

Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in relevant fields.
- Chemical/Energy industry background is a plus.
- Certifications in product development, Cloud architecture, Data Management or Data Governance a plus
- Experience with at least one of the following: Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platforms

- Define and own product strategy and roadmaps to address unmet business needs, aligned with LYBs sustainability strategic objectives.
- Lead the enterprise and partner with the Data & Analytics organization to define the data strategy for all data needs across the broad domain.
- Leading, coaching, mentoring and encouraging a dedicated team to build and deploy the best-in-class software that are available to provide the best experience for our customers.
- Partner with diverse groups of business leaders across different functions (e.g., manufacturing, quality, procurement, planning, logistics, customer experience, sustainability) to identify and prioritize business opportunities and to deploy the products.
- Play a key role in sustainability related workstreams associated with M&A initiatives.
- Participate in interviewing, hiring decisions, on-boarding, and mentoring of new engineers with the goal of quickly making them productive members of the team.
- Champion and gain buy-in for the strategy and roadmap from partner teams through collaboration, documentation, and negotiation that effectively influence peer groups and senior management.
- Drive product platform strategy, roadmap, architecture, feature list and its adoption
- Drive definition of scope and manage business case development and approval, requirements gathering/creation, prioritization, design review, and launch readiness of new products.
- Develop and monitor success and service health metrics related to adoption and impact of the products, track the realized savings and business benefits.
- Collaborate with Product Development team of CoEs to ensure the timely delivery of products per requirements.
- Manage priorities and trade-offs between customer experience, performance and operational support.
- Evaluate, propose and run/govern the proof of concepts for new technologies which could result in differentiating capabilities for the business;
- Model Agile principles by maintaining a groomed backlog and providing prioritization for backlog
- Foster a culture of safety, teamwork and excellence.
- Build self-organizing and high-performing teams by focusing on development of the engineers
- Establish a sustainable engineering culture to grow strong talents on both technology and business excellency
