This is the role
Your role as Director TBA, Business Development & Advocacy is two-fold: You’ll be responsible for leading global LYB initiatives to improve fuel quality around the world, increasing demand for MTBE and ETBE as well as leading commercial activities supporting sales of ETBE and High Purity Isobutylene (HPIB) to our key global customers. This should be done in accordance with the business plan and in conjunction with the Senior Vice President, Chemical Intermediates & Oxyfuels.
In this senior leadership role you will be responsible for the execution of strategic decisions around commercial strategies, global communication, and global regulatory trends impacting the use of ethers.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Responsible for development of new business for the Global Ethers Strategic Business Unit, deriving target strategic path options, alternatives and recommendations to the SVP, Chemical Intermediates & Oxyfuels, and senior officers
- Responsible for defending LYB’s core ethers markets by advocating for favorable fuels policies with regulators, standardization bodies, and industry stakeholders
- Responsible for leading the global HPIB, TBA, and JBSL businesses
- Ensures business strategy and purpose is clearly communicated throughout the organization
- Drives global advocacy for ethers: Ensures long-term profitability and growth of the Global Ethers business through leadership of external trade consortia including ACELA (Asociación de Combustibles Eficientes de Latinoamérica – Association of Efficient Combustion of Latin America), Sustainable Fuels (Europe, Middle East and Africa), and ACFA (Asian Clean Fuels Association). LYB assumes leadership positions in each of these boards
- Leads a high-performing global staff of technical marketing managers and Key Account Managers to foster global P&L transparency, collaboration, and accountability
- Coaches and develops staff, enabling them to represent LYB externally, promote our portfolio, and improve the public’s understanding of ethers within the context of global sustainability
- Initiates preparation and consolidates the annual budget and long-range business plans for P&Ls
- Through staff members, he/she drives continuous improvement efforts such as product mix improvement, effective product development, strategic market development, efficient inventory management, product cost improvements and optimum product portfolio balance measures to achieve the current and long-term profitability of the business
- Initiates actions to develop, acquire or license technology that assures premiere status in supplying quality products to target markets. Champions key investments required to fulfill the business unit strategy.

This is what you bring
- At minimum Bachelor of science degree required
- Technical discipline and/or MBA strongly preferred
- Significant knowledge of and experience in the petrochemical industry (15+ years with a minimum 10 years of commercial and managerial experience)
- Experience devising and implementing market strategies
- Experience leading through significant change
- Specific experience fostering relationships with a broad array of internal and external stakeholders to advocate positions and achieve business results
- Fluency in English
