Announcement
In June 2025, LYB announced exclusive negotiations for the sale of four Olefins & Polyolefins sites in Europe, including the Dutch legal entity supporting the new company. Closing is expected in May 2026. From day one, the new company will be a scaled European O&P leader with an agile, entrepreneurial culture and strong operational excellence.
You will play a pivotal role in ensuring a smooth transition and in establishing a robust financial foundation for the new company.
This is the role
The Country Controller for the Netherlands is responsible for the financial governance of the Dutch legal entity, including statutory accounting, consolidated IFRS reporting, group reporting, internal controls, tax coordination, regulatory compliance, and audit management. This role acts as the local finance lead and primary point of contact for Dutch authorities, auditors, and internal stakeholders. You will serve as the key finance representative for the Dutch entity and a central contributor to group level reporting and consolidation activities.
Key Responsibilities
Statutory Accounting & Local GAAP Compliance
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of statutory financial statements under Dutch GAAP (RJ);
- Coordinate annual accounts, disclosures, and filings with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK);
- Maintain complete and compliant statutory books and documentation for the legal entity.
Consolidated IFRS & Group Reporting
- Lead the preparation of IFRS reporting packages for group consolidation;
- Ensure high quality, timely submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual IFRS results;
- Support group consolidation activities, including elimination entries, intercompany reconciliations, and consolidation adjustments;
- Provide technical accounting expertise for complex IFRS topics, including business combinations, impairments, provisions, and financial instruments.
Purchase Price Allocation (PPA)
- Support the PPA process related to the carve out and future transactions;
- Ensure accurate valuation and recognition of acquired assets, liabilities, and intangible assets under IFRS 3;
- Maintain and monitor ongoing PPA related amortization, fair value adjustments, and disclosures.
Audit Management
- Act as the primary contact for external auditors;
- Coordinate statutory and group audit processes and ensure timely completion.
Tax Coordination & Regulatory Compliance
- Oversee local tax compliance in coordination with Group Tax and external advisors, including:
- Corporate Income Tax (Vennootschapsbelasting)
- VAT (BTW)
- Withholding taxes
- Ensure compliance with Dutch regulatory, industrial, and environmental reporting requirements relevant to the chemical sector.
Internal Controls, Risk & Compliance
- Own the internal control framework for the Dutch entity;
- Ensure segregation of duties and control compliance within SAP;
- Lead local risk assessments and support ethics & compliance initiatives.
Treasury, Cash & Legal Entity Stewardship
- Partner with Treasury to oversee local bank account administration and payment controls;
- Monitor working capital from a compliance and governance perspective;
- Support capital structure actions, distributions, and legal entity governance activities (board meetings, resolutions, powers of attorney).
Shared Services Oversight
- Act as the “ultimate customer” for services delivered by the Shared Service Center in Bulgaria;
- Monitor SLA performance, ensure compliance with Dutch requirements, and escalate issues when needed;
- Provide local guidance to SSC teams on Dutch GAAP, VAT, and regulatory specifics.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the finance representative for the Dutch legal entity;
- Present legal entity performance and statutory matters to local directors, works councils, site management, and executive leadership;
- Provide financial guidance to non finance stakeholders as needed.
This is who you are
To be successful in this role, you must recognize yourself in the following profile:
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. You bring extensive experience working with SAP R/3 and have additional knowledge of OneStream. You are fluent in both Dutch and English, in written and spoken communication. Candidates will be assessed on the following LYB competencies:

This is what you bring
- University degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA preferred;
- Professional Accountancy Qualification (RA/CPA/Chartered Accountant) required;
- 10+ years of experience in finance/accounting within complex or multinational environments;
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and Dutch GAAP (RJ);
- Proven experience preparing statutory accounts in the Netherlands;
- Experience with audits, internal controls, and legal entity governance;
- Experience with Purchase Price Allocation (PPA) and business combination accounting.
