Announcement

In June 2025, LYB announced entering into an agreement and exclusive negotiations for the sale of four olefins & polyolefins sites and the associated business in Europe. The sites to be sold are located in Berre (France), Münchsmünster (Germany), Carrington (UK), and Tarragona (Spain). The sites together represent a scaled olefins and polyolefins platform strategically located in proximity to a longstanding customer base and with access and connectivity to key infrastructure. 
Closing of the proposed transaction is currently expected in the first half of 2026. From the start, the new company will be a scaled leader in European Olefins & Polyolefins. Powered by strategically located assets, a diverse product portfolio, and operational excellence, it aims to transform the business, fostering an agile, entrepreneurial culture where fast decision-making and hands-on collaboration drive transformation and growth.

You will become part of a new dynamic organization with around 1,800 employees, headquarters in Rotterdam and production sites in France, Germany, UK and Spain with a strong focus on customer excellence.

This is the role

The purpose of the Commercial Manager, Polymers role is to develop and implement marketing, product and pricing strategies for the related Polymer market segments to maximize the overall value and return for NewCo. The Commercial Manager is responsible for optimizing profitability of their respective market segments, structuring, and driving market and product growth initiatives and overseeing the execution working in close collaboration with sales, planning, communications and ADTS. 


Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement market segment strategies that contribute to the Polymers business strategy. Apply Marketing Excellence framework.  
  • Develop deep understanding of competitors’ strategies and drivers in combination with the  industry Marketing Manager
  • Optimize customer / product portfolio to maximize profitability. Develop annual marketing plan including market / product / customer matrix, contract guidelines and price positioning.  Ensure alignment with asset capability.  Work in close collaboration with Sales, asset management, and ADTS to drive implementation.  
  • Understand market segment performance vs. external benchmarks, identify key drivers and determine actions to close gaps.
  • Provides product expertise & S&D input to complement new trends identified in end markets.
  • Analyzes / researches market, defines segment strategies, provides product expertise & develops industry networks as feasible.
  • Weighs in on customer implications of capacity allocation for late-stage prototyping.
  • Responsible for continually establishing and evaluating product pricing strategy, including setting floor and target pricing, approving pricing outside of bands for established product.
  • Participate in cross-functional market segment teams to identify growth areas for the business translating market segment strategy to innovation ideas and well-defined (capex) projects.  Optimize market positioning of new innovations based on value in use to drive EBITDA growth.
  • Actively manage product portfolio to ensure appropriate balance between fit-for-purpose / benchmark market positions, and appropriate value positioning.
  • Partner with sales on customer account and channel to market strategy; join key contract negotiation, engage with distributors, OEM’s and brand owners as appropriate.
  • Take active role in industry forums, conferences and associations.  Represent LYB and industry interests.
  • Actively engage in the monthly supply and demand balancing and optimization.  
  • Provide input to the monthly financial forecast with market segment price/margin calls.  Conduct timely compliance reviews (price/rebate).
  • Translate market segment strategy and assumptions as input to LRP and performance plan. Understand resulting financial targets.
  • Participate in Product Risk Management reviews and ensure effective implementation of Product Stewardship programs.

This is what you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Business or Technical Degree preferred
    • MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience in a Technical, Sales/Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, or Commercial role.
    • Prior commercial experience preferred.
  • Relevant industry knowledge to manage successful business strategies
