This is the role

As a Corporate Services Category Manager for Europe you will have a strategic role within across all EU sites. You will play a key role in a developing the strategy, lead & implement projects in line with sustainability standards. You will collaborate closely with our Sustainable Procurement team to disseminate LyondellBasell sustainability goals into the organization. 
Categories include, but not limited to: Contingent Labor, Facilities, Office Supplies & Equipment, Marketing, Training and Travel.



  • Ensure that all procurement initiatives are aligned with the global strategy for your category;
  • Bring category management expertise and best practice to generate and execute ideas to create savings;
  • Incorporate the principles of Sustainable Procurement in your strategy and supplier selection;
  • Maintains ongoing connection with regional and global Corporate Services team;
  • Work closely with the program leaders and business leaders to facilitate the implementation.


Category purchasing mission:

  • Develop an internal network to capture needs, prioritize projects and implement them in close coordination with stakeholders;
  • Source and benchmark suppliers through RFP and negotiations;
  • Ensure contracting & application of negotiated conditions;
  • Define and follow KPIs with suppliers;
  • Monitor quality service and performance of suppliers, and serve as a resource to resolve commercial and sustainability  issues;
  • Implement & follow action plans to improve supplier contributions.
  • Seek continuous improvement of the procurement activities:
  • Build category strategies & roadmaps;
  • Propose and implement action plans to meet our productivity objectives;
  • Ensure compliance along the process including our relations with suppliers;
  • Develop and track corrective action plans to improve supplier’s sustainably performance (as part of sustainability assessments and audits)
  • Track savings & promote added value for stakeholders;
  • Propose and implement simplification of purchasing and procurement processes with stakeholders.

As a Category Manager at LyondellBasell you are analytical (making decisions based on facts) and you know how to connect with people on all levels (stakeholder management). With your well-developed interpersonal skills and business acumen you are an excellent negotiator, influencing people in a positive way. 
The role may require occasional travel to our production facilities.

This is what you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required (or recognized equivalent)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience required in indirect procurement/ corporate services combined with purchasing and services management strategy / contract management
  • Ability to build connections and manage relationships with suppliers
  • Strong commercial skills
  • Strong affinity with data analysis 
  • Fluent presenter
  • Passion for sustainability and innovation
  • Fluent in English language (speaking and writing). Another European country language preferred
  • Knowledge of SAP, ARIBA and EXCEL
