This is the role
The Associate Buyer Logistics procures and manages logistics related Services for Polymers and APS within the European region. The Associated buyer logistics negotiates logistics spot rates with 3rd Parties called Logistics Service Providers (LSP’s).
The main job content will be primarily based on executing operations fulfillment needs via transactional activity in full compliance with procurement strategies, Delegation of Authority and all other relevant policies and procedures. The incumbent secures that the appointed LSP will act in compliance to our contract including safety, technical and compliance related processes, standards and local laws. The incumbent assures that the contracted LSP’s will operate performance driven on basis of a KPI matrix, which will be part of the contract agreement. The incumbent will take a leading role in ensuring that the agreed Contract and required Logistics Services, existing business processes and the operational aspects will be adequately managed against a competitive market fee and appropriate service level. The incumbent will be the back-up (and vice versa) for other Buying activities within the department meaning that the Logistics Buyers should work closely together and will be properly trained to facilitate regular hand-overs.

- How Measured: Execute spot bidding.
Archive all contract details consistently, in the correct format, and up to date.
- Why: To ensure compliance with company and legal requirements, and to support cost control and issue resolution.
- How Measured: Store documents in the shared drive or an agreed platform like Documentum. Ensure no major non-conformities or findings during internal and external audits.
Monitor the performance of Logistics Service Providers (LSPs) by establishing and committing to a basic KPI matrix, and ensure timely follow-up on required and agreed improvement actions by terminals.
- Why: To challenge each LSP to perform according to the agreed service level and business expectations, encouraging continuous improvement in their operational services.
- How Measured: Include a performance and service level-driven KPI matrix in each Logistics Contract and actively measure the quarterly performance outcomes of each LSP.
Collect market knowledge and information actively, continuously investigate and suggest options for improvement, benchmark terminal service rates, and assist business management in setting and reaching yearly targets.
- Why: To ensure collaboration with LSPs that provide the required service level at competitive market rates.
- How Measured: Regularly execute tenders and/or Requests for Quotation (RfQs) within the logistics market. Attend industry-related events for visibility, networking, and knowledge creation. Visit LSPs and/or their facilities/equipment or internal stakeholders.
Support tender/RfQ processes by timely mapping operational, legal, and technical requirements.
- Why: To contribute to a successful tender or RfQ process, leading to well-established contracts and relationships with LSPs.
- How Measured: Ensure timely contract finalization and a low number of operational/legal disputes with LSPs related to potential grey areas in contracts.

This is what you bring
- Bachelor degree in logistics or business environment, up to 2 years working experience in the chemical industry in Logistics (preference) or in a commercial position;
- Knowledge of SAP, MS Office, especially Excel is a must;
- Relevant operational working experience and knowledge in Logistics;
- Fluent in English. Being fluent in German, French, Italian or Spanish language will be a bonus;
