This is the role
The Manager Business Finance, O&P EU is responsible for the financial, business and commercial support and Controllership activities related to LyondellBasell’s O&P EU Olefins Business. It’s a Finance leadership role within the O&P Finance and Strategy position with management responsibilities for the EU Olefins Business and will report to the Director Business Finance, O&P EAI and Technology. This role will be a key member of the Business Finance team as well as the O&P EU business leadership team, with strong focus on driving strategic initiatives, continuous improvement and championing enterprise-wide initiative to add value.
The position has high exposure to the O&P EU business leadership team and is expected to be highly collaborative with functions outside of the business including HR, manufacturing and corporate finance (Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Investor Relations, Strategic Planning & Transactions, Tax, Finance Strategy & Transformation, and Audit).
Main Responsibilities
- Directing business finance operations and controls;
- Ensuring finance support, effective analysis and insights to enable business and management reviews and drives business responsiveness to changing market opportunities/conditions;
- Responsible for the monthly rolling financial forecast – income statement and working capital –on basis of input from the business and other service functions. Provide insight into the business and market outlook;
- Ensuring forecast accuracy and accountable action plans are in place to mitigate risk;
- Accountable for ensuring quality deliverables for the Olefins Business and delivering key business insights to leadership both periodic and ad-hoc;
- Ensuring critical decisions are financially based;
- Ensuring profitability is maximized both short and long term, cash flow maximization, working capital optimization and effective fixed asset utilization;
- Ensuring effective investment analytics.
Operational Excellence
- Accountable for providing business support on strategic projects and modelling of cash flow returns, by cross functional collaboration of Strategy and Planning, SP&T, Manufacturing and the Business.
- Accountable to lead Performance Plan and LRP Process and ensure consistency in regional and global assumptions, prioritization of growth projects and scenario planning.
This is what you bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, Finance
- MBA, CPA, Chartered Accountant / Controller or other advanced degree is preferred.
- Experience in the petrochemical industry and/or adjacent industries preferred;
- 10+ years of relevant finance experience in a multi-entity, complex global environment;
- Direct experience managing a business or company level performance plan and forecasting process;
- Strong financial modeling skills are required creating/managing a forward-looking financial view, considering key business drivers;
- Experience with reporting systems and SAP. Experience with large scale system implementation and/or process improvement projects are considered a plus;
- Understanding of business performance drivers in the chemical industry;
- Fluency in English is a must.
