This is the role
As the Business Development Director Circular & Low Carbon Solutions (CLCS) you’re expected to lead and manage a dynamic team of business development professionals. You will be responsible for driving growth by identifying and developing new business opportunities through both current customers and new customers. You will provide strategic guidance, foster strong relationships, and align team efforts to achieve organizational goals, ensuring a healthy pipeline of business opportunities.
Furthermore you provide business development and commercial leadership to drive profitable growth of Circulen solutions within Europe. You will lead a team of Business Developers and indirectly Business Developers from LYB partners, which will be the primary interface for customer engagement for the Circulen business.
You collaborates closely with the Polymers Sales Organization, especially with the Consumer Rigid Packaging Team to increase value creation and align efforts to achieve common goals. This role will play a critical role in scaling new business, driving revenue growth, and building long-term partnerships within the different customer channels.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Manage and lead a team of business developers, including coaching, training and sharing best practices among Business Developers
- Develop and grow sales of Circulen in Europe, driving the opportunities funnel
- Develop strong knowledge of the European Circular and Low carbon solutions market, market trends and competitive dynamics; in order to deliver the basis of current and future business decisions
- Ensure a consistent and effective execution of the business strategy and make recommendations on potential improvements, ensuring alignment among different sales channels
- Drive for results and achieve sales and pricing objectives at the customer in terms of contribution margin, volume, customer share in order to maximizes the total value creation for the business
- Will own the opportunity funnel for new business opportunities building a healthy pipeline to drive business growth among the teams
- Will support a number of customers, in addition will drive collaboration and provide support to the Polymers Sales team in developing and growing sales of Circulen
- Establish solid relationships with the regional sales team to grow sales, coordinate commercial activities so that relevant market information is captured and the voice of the customer is represented to the business. Additionally develops an effective network with business management, quality, technical service, supply chain, customer service.
- Ensures timely closure of customer claims
- Respects all policies and procedures and proactively “lives” them.

This is what you bring
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Sciences, Engineering, Marketing or Business Management
- Master/MBA preferred
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in Business Development/Sales
- Minimum of additional 5 years’ experience in selling Circular/Sustainable or Specialty Polymers is required for this role
- Must have a demonstrable track record of success in New Business Development
- Experience on leading a team
- Must have experience in leading a cross functional team in a “Team Selling” approach
Preferred location: Rotterdam
Business Travel expected is 30%.
