This is the role


The Risk Based Inspection (RBI) Engineer will advance the RBI strategy to optimize inspection intervals and test plans for the Botlek and Maasvlakte manufacturing sites that meet national legislation on Pressure Equipment and LyondellBasell corporate requirements. He/She shall utilize Quantitative and Qualitative Risk Based Inspection software, communicate expertise on mechanical design review and equipment repair strategies to improve the asset integrity and reliability. As a qualified inspector, he/she will inspect and analyze inspection data on Pressure Equipment, Piping and above ground Storage tanks. He/She shall have extensive knowledge of design codes, rules and regulations (PRDA, API, NEN, ASME, etc.). Should preferably be a certified Inspector Level 3 (IKT) or an International Welding Engineer (IWE/LPI). The RBI engineer shall have a role within the Inspection department and act as SME towards plant operations and maintenance for asset integrity/reliability matters. 

These are the roles & responsibilities


In this position you will focus on, not limited to, the following roles & responsibilities:


  • Experienced with Risk Based Inspection methodology (DNV Orbit, E2G API RBI) to optimize the inspection management program.
  • Drive the continuous improvement of the RBI Program, Procedures and Processes.
  • Provide technical oversight and second level review of inspection findings and recommendations, asset strategy adjustments, and interpretation of inspection data.
  • Technical resource in analysis of data, damage mechanisms, and equipment/piping reliability plans (asset strategies). 
  • Assist as needed to analyze data, calculate corrosion rates, assess risk, and predict end of life for piping, pressure vessels, and tanks.
  • Define, implement and improve inspection strategies based on best available techniques.
  • Work collaboratively with mechanical/asset reliability stakeholders at the Botlek and Maasvlakte sites as member of a diverse Inspection department.

This is what you bring


To be successful in this position, it would be great if you bring the following:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • Post BSc training IKT Level 3 or International Welding Engineer (IWE/LPI).
  • API 580 Risk Based Inspection certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in inspections and examinations of Pressure Equipment and other Mechanical Static equipment as RBI engineer.
  • Knowledge of fixed equipment inspection codes, requirements and practices, non-destructive examination technologies and interpretation and analysis of inspection data.
  • Able to work with Quantitative and Qualitative Risk Based Inspection Software, preferably DNV ORBIT and E2G API RBI.
  • Working knowledge of GE Meridium and SAP.
