Basic Function

The person in this role will have the responsibility to safely and effectively supervise and coordinate the day to day on site logistics operations activities of the manufacturing site and associated off-site third-party distribution platforms operations. Identify and drive improvement opportunities in the logistics area, manage the implementation of logistics projects and optimize the overall site logistics operations. Define the necessary KPIs for the Logistic team to secure the achievements of relevant Site goals.
 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Maintain a high team focus on HSE and lead by example to strive for Goal Zero performance. Apply site and corporate HSE guidelines and ensure compliance with Operational Excellence Standards and Company philosophy of Goal Zero.
  • Supervise the logistics team to deliver Operational Excellence in all aspects of site logistics operations. 
  • Manage operations within established budgets and deliver performance against agreed KPI’s.
  • Optimize the utilization of onsite and third party storage facilities  and warehousing, particularly with regard to ”overspill” operations.
  • Optimize work practices and transaction processes and associated operations ensuring proper traceability and auditability of raw materials and finished products in accordance with site and corporate quality procedures and ISO standards (responsible for ISO 28000 certification).
  • Contribute to overall site manufacturing efficiency by delivering efficient and timely production order processing and plant scheduling services.
  • Make an effective contribution to customer service through efficient sales order execution, timely materials availability and delivery performance in accordance with sales / customer requirements.
  • Maintain good functional working relationships with site operations personnel, European CSG, central planning and asset management groups. Foster an atmosphere of cooperation across multiple interfaces both on and off-site with internal and third party (haulier) contacts.
  • Contribute and work closely with the HSE manager to full fill OCS (Operational Clean Sweep) requirements.
  • Review and monitor performance of third party Logistics service providers (Distribution Platforms) and associated operations (cost and quality of service).
  • Maintain and develop reporting systems and processes for site logistics and supply chain performance (safety, costs and operational KPI’s).   
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment in all logistics areas in accordance with Site and Company expectations and Industry Standards. 
  • Continuously review and update site procedures to ensure compliance with internal logistics best practice in conjunction with Regional SC Operations Manager.
  • Contribute to and participate in knowledge exchange for the supply chain community.
  • Network as appropriate with peers internally and externally to keep the site logistics operations in line with current legislation and best practice.

Min. Qualifications

Education:

  • University Degree or Technical High School diploma plus consolidated experience in Logistics/Warehousing/Purchasing/Planning.

Work Experience: 

  • Minimum 5 years team leadership/supervisory experience in an operational environment, preferably within plastics/polymers manufacturing or a warehousing/logistics environment.
  • Vocational qualification in an appropriate field of expertise preferred. 

Skills:

  • Good knowledge Logistics and HSE procedures.
  • Predilection for teamwork 
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Problem solving and continuous improving approach.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Familiar with ERP (Navision and SAP) system operations and other specific IT tools and software.
  • Presentation skills, using MS Office software

Languages:

  • Fluent in spoken and written English and Italian. 

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Professional qualifications or certifications are preferred but is not mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Clear understanding and appreciation of HSE risks in logistics operations and clear drive to attain the highest HSE standards. 
  • Good organizational and supervisory skills – team leadership skills.
  • Effective communicator.
  • Good interpersonal skills and pro-active team leader with previous experience in establishing and developing team relationships .
  • Ability to work to deadlines in a busy environment; practical understanding of need, and method for, prioritization.
