HSE Prevention & Protection Specialist

Basic Function

• Collaborate with Mepol HSE Manager in the risk assessment and, therefore, in the drafting of the relevant Risks assessment document, in the planning and control of the prevention and protection measures implemented to guarantee adequate levels of health and safety;
• Identify and evaluate the risk factors within the company;
• Continuously monitor the dynamics that develop within the company with regard to the state of the structural and technological resources (work environments, systems, machines, equipment, etc.), the organization, training and work practices followed, reporting risk situations in writing to the employer (e.g. Near misses, H&S Gap Analysis reports);
• Participate in consultations on health and safety at work, i.e. the annual periodic meeting (art. 35 Legislative Decree 81/2008).

Roles & Responsabilities

General

• Provide employees with the information required by art. 36 Legislative Decree 81/2008.
• Identify and monitor opportunities for improvement in safety and the environment.
• Planning and contacts with suppliers for periodic checks of safety, fire, emergency, electrical safety systems, and for the supply of goods and services (PPE, modifications, small equipment, environmental analysis)
• Promotes programs or initiatives to raise awareness of the OCS (Operation Clean Sweep) program
• Support internal safety and environmental audits
• Apply and enforce rules and procedures relating to Security aspects (ISO28000 Management System)
• Use of customized software for the creation of safety data sheets
• Recording of data in the Intelex system

Area of Expertise, Requirements

• Plant personnel apply and comply with safety and environmental regulations
• DVR updated and compliant with HSE regulations
• Machinery and systems continuously updated and compliant with regulations
• Reduction of the LTA index and the number of accidents
• Plant compliance with Safety and Environmental regulations
• Continuous reduction of environmental impact through continuous improvement
• Zero incidents good practice implementation

Min. Qualification

• Technical high school diploma + 3 years of experience or bachelor/master's degree in Prevention and Protection Techniques, Industrial or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science Technology + 1-2 years of experience.
• Good knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) prevention and protection Techniques and Italian Regulation (Legislative Decree 81/2008 and 152/2006)
• Minimum experience (also Academic) in HSE topics application 
• Good knowledge of English

Preferred/Plus Qualifications

• Certificate of attendance, with learning assessment, at specific qualifying training courses (ASPP – ref. Legislative Decree 81/2008 art. 32 – 33; State Region Agreement 2025 April 17th)
• Use of AUTO-CAD
• Experience in Industrial and/or Environmental Hygiene as Technician (Consultant or Internal Company)
