Senior VAT Accountant

Basic Function

Prepare and submit (complicated) VAT returns, statistical reports, European Sales Listings and reconciliations with detailed analysis of SAP data for legal entities in the EU VAT registered countries; Follow-up with the business departments on questions/issues following from the compliance process. 

Roles & Responsibilities

• Support the Director in ensuring that indirect tax deadlines are respected, taking care of all requests from VAT and statistical authorities, and maintaining contacts with tax authorities,
• Gathering all the necessary information for the various VAT returns, statistical reports, European Sales Listings and other reports,
• Prepare and submit VAT returns, statistical reports, European Sales Listings and reconciliations with detailed manipulation and analysis of SAP data for legal entities in the EU VAT registered countries,
• Support the VAT compliance coordinator in ensuring the payment of all indirect taxes for the legal entities for which the VAT accountant is responsible,
• Run the AR exception reports and follow-up with the business groups in case an incorrect invoice is issued,
• Application of the tax code on exception invoices which cannot be posted by the automated AP tax code determination process,
• Support the Director in the relations with internal and external auditors, and operate as focal point between finance and external fiscal advisors in the preparation of all fiscal documentation,
• Ensure the correctness and the updating of the fiscal archive.

Min. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in relevant subject plus 5+ years working experience in VAT compliance with a multinational company (or equivalent based on relevant work experience),
• Very Good knowledge of EU VAT compliance rules and the specific local VAT filing programs as needed to submit electronic VAT returns, European Sales Listings and Intrastat declarations,
• Medium/ High IT capabilities and good knowledge of and working experience with VAT functionality in SAP,
• Fluency in English, other European language is an asset,
• Getting results and added value focus,

• Teamwork attitude.
