This Mid-Level Automation Engineer position focuses on engineering the strategies that govern how a large-scale, multi-cloud environment is built and changed. Operating within the Digital Technology Services team, the role serves as a Center of Excellence for delivery and automation across the enterprise. The core function involves developing infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and GitHub Actions, with a specific emphasis on integrating these workflows bidirectionally with ServiceNow. Additionally, the position is responsible for defining emerging AI-Ops patterns and managing automation standards in partnership with a third-party operations vendor.

A Day in the Life

•    AI-Ops Development: Evaluate and implement AI-assisted operations tooling and patterns to enhance existing Operational and ServiceNow workflows.
•    ServiceNow Integration: Develop bidirectional integrations to ensure all automated changes, provisioning, and decommissions are reflected in the CMDB and ticketing system.
•    Pipeline Orchestration: Build and maintain GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines to automate software updates and infrastructure deployments across cloud and on-premises to the highest degree possible.
•    IaC Engineering: Author and manage reusable Terraform modules to standardize infrastructure provisioning across AWS and Azure environments.
•    Vendor Collaboration: Partner with the third-party managed services provider to codify manual runbooks into repeatable, automated workflows.
•    Compliance Automation: Integrate "compliance-as-code" into pipelines to ensure every deployment meets CIS Benchmarks and regulatory audit requirements.
•    Center of Excellence Leadership: Establish enterprise-wide automation standards, reusable patterns, and documentation for cloud delivery.

You Bring This Value

Education
•    A Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field is standard for mid-level engineering positions.
•    In lieu of a formal degree, 5–7 years of relevant professional experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or cloud infrastructure is generally accepted as an equivalent foundation.
•    Professional certifications will also be considered.

Work Experience 
•    A minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, or platform engineering roles is required.
•    Demonstrated proficiency in developing pipelines using GitHub and GitHub Actions.
•    Proven hands-on experience with Terraform in AWS or Azure, specifically involving module authoring, state management, and workspace strategies.
•    Real-world experience connecting automation pipelines to ServiceNow, including CMDB population and automated change request management.
•    A firm understanding of cloud networking, IAM, and security fundamentals, alongside familiarity with compliance-as-code tooling.
•    Experience working within a hybrid model involving third-party managed services vendors preferred.
