Basic Function
In this role the IH professional will be responsible for understanding and effectively communicating the implications of state and federal Health and Safety regulations. The successful candidate must be able to proactively identify workplace hazards and work with the site management team to implement cost-effective solutions. This position serves as a key role in the site's Industrial Hygiene program.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Develops and executes the site annual IH monitoring program, site comprehensive exposure assessment process and reporting to management of findings
- Makes recommendations and drive improvements based on monitoring results
- Develops, implements and maintains assigned site Health and Safety procedures and training programs
- Responsible for the following site programs: Breathing air, PPE, Safety Data Sheets, Radiation, NORM, Lead, Silica and Asbestos
- Conducts field IH monitoring for chemicals, NORM, lighting surveys, and noise
- Performs field verification for various programs. (auditing of IH related programs such as silica, asbestos, radiation, lead, etc.)
- Supports role for emergency response which may require the use of SCBA and other appropriate PPE
- Maintain and improve an effective fence line monitoring program
- This position networks with other company representatives to gain information on compliance strategies, ideas for compliance alternatives, and shares information within the company
- Lead the development and implementation of IH planning for turnaround and outage activities
- Participate and/or lead site investigations
- Successful follow through on assigned action items
- Provides IH guidance and mentoring to less experienced Health & Safety Department personnel
- Work closely with on-site medical staff to ensure compliance with medical surveillance
- Successful completion of annual performance goals
- This position may also have occupational safety responsibilities
Min. Qualifications
• BS/MS in Industrial Hygiene or related science
• Minimum of 4 years demonstrated IH experience
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations, Industrial hygiene methodologies and equipment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Good communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in the chemical, petrochemical, refining or industrial environment
• Radiation Safety Officer certification
• Working knowledge of Cority IH Data Systems
• Understanding of occupational health and occupational medicine #LI-CB1
