This position is responsible for the strategic direction of the company's Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE) and Security programs and policies for the polymer manufacturing site located in Bayport, TX. The position is also responsible for compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations: local, state and federal. As part of the BYO Leadership Team, this position provides guidance, direction and coaching to safety and environmental professionals and specialists responsible for the delivery of HSE processes and policies at the Bayport Polymers site and as part of relevant corporate networks and teams. The individual serving in this capacity will act as the site’s interface with HSE regulatory agencies, as well as providing direct oversight to the site training organization.

A Day in the Life

• Overall responsibility for safe, environmentally compliant operations of the PP and Catalloy plants in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws as well as OE standards, Operation Clean Sweep, OSHA VPP, and in full compliance with RCMS.
• Establishes and maintains Key Performance Indicators used to measure the site HSE performance.
• Ensures the HSE programs and practices focus on continuous improvement while being consistent with LyondellBasell's OE Standards and in compliance with local, state and federal requirements.
• Proactively develops/deploys business driven, cost effective HSE programs/activities to reduce work-related injuries and illnesses, prevent harm to the environment, and bring awareness to areas of concern.
• Acts as the champion to insure proper investigation and follow-up is taken on HSE concerns and incidents.
• Addresses internal and external customer inquiries and reporting requirements regarding HSSE matters.
• Facilitates employee involvement, awareness, and continuous improvement in all LYB safety programs.
• Builds relationships and maintains on-going communications with plant staff and manufacturing personnel to develop and maintain a collaborative work environment.
• Manages organizational aspects, succession planning, performance, professional development, and talent management strategies for the HSSE function to develop staff with expertise and knowledge. 
• Responsible for a contract security force, active member of the LYB HSE network, acts on behalf of the Site Manager when delegated.
• Develop and manage the budget for all areas of responsibility, establish programs and plans to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and deliver site objectives while keeping in mind the business needs.
• Ensure the Code of Conduct, and all other company policies are consistently and fairly administered
• Promotes consistency of purpose with other functional groups within the plant site and within LYB.

You Bring This Value

• This position requires a B.S. degree in Engineering, relevant sciences or specific HSE discipline with supervisory and non-supervisory experience and a minimum of 10 years’ petrochemical or industrial experience.
• Must have the ability to manage a world scale, around-the-clock, production facility.
• Required to have working knowledge of the regulatory processes applicable to plant operations and experience representing a company to the various regulatory agencies.  
• Knowledge of and experience with HSE, operating, maintenance, and engineering processes and procedures, business fundamentals, and shared services role in manufacturing.
• Strong people and organizational leadership acumen demonstrated through previous experience within manufacturing and across the organization.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to interface with all organizational levels within the company and with contractors.

Preferred Qualifications 
• Experience working at a polypropylene (polymers) manufacturing site
